Summary

Newt Gingrich blasted a Julia Roberts-led ad encouraging women to vote privately, calling it a sign of the sick values he attributes to Democrats. In a heated exchange with Sean Hannity, he accused the party of promoting dishonesty and moral decay in America, suggesting this reflects a broader erosion of societal integrity. Gingrich, who faced his own scandals, cited Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s recent split from the Democrats as further proof of disillusionment with what he sees as their corrupt influence.

Man who cheated on his first wife while she had cancer and cheated on his second wife while impeaching Bill Clinton for having an affair, rails against the moral depravity of Democrats who encourage women to vote for whoever they want.

You can take it from Newt Gingrich, who has cheated on two dying wives, an epitome of moral compass that all americans should look towards.

[–] barsquid@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago

Gingrich, who had an affair during his second marriage, then held Democrats responsible for America's moral degeneration.

Decent journalistic integrity to point this out, but really should be in the headline.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

you heard it here folks... women having autonomy is moral decay... from the people who took away your right to govern your own body.

Seriously, this same bunch has been bitching over women getting the vote, being able to drive, owning land, having a bank account (w/o male approval), no fault divorce, abortion, birth control for decades. Often this was done quietly, or if in a mixed setting, it was done as a "ha ha can't you take a JOKE?" kind of way.

Now they have stolen abortion rights and in the process the corrupted qons on the "supreme" court indicated they want to do something not only about Teh Gheyz, but also about birth control. And now several of them are being much more open about their hostility to no fault divorce. And unlike in the past, it's not the geriatrics that were older than the boomers; I hear this shit coming of Gen Z and Gen Y age people....we should believe them when they say this is their intent.

A lot of qons would constantly clutch their pearls and try to get me silenced when I spoke about the xtian taliban. They were only so mad because THEY KNOW IT IS TRUE. The xtian taliban is a thing and other than bullshit doctrinal differences no one outside their little book clubs give a flying fuck about, THEY ARE THE SAME EXACT THING as Islamist extremists. Just because they are not allowed to murder gays and women right now doesn't mean they get any special points.

Gingrich cheats on wives while they die and suffer from illness, talk about sick shit...

[–] genXgentleman@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

He's such a P.O.S.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

LOL, I love that these fuckers are showing their true colors.

After all the bullshit talk about "TRUE conservatism" and how donnie is not "really" Republicanism.....lol, no, donnie is the party and donnie is the party. It's all one big pile of grievance politics and about keeping special privileges for xtian white cishet right wing males.

Meanwhile, I saw Megyn Kelly on Maher and her justification for voting for donnie involves two specters, it seems - the fear of 20 million "illegals" and "what THEY are doing to the kids in the name of trans".

Seriously, WTAF. The bullshit whipped over illegals is way out of proportion and how is something like trans a concern for the PRESIDENT to handle, anyway?

The man who cheated on his previous wife dying of cancer says other voting for control over their own healthcare are sick. Gotcha.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago

that's unfair... in the spirit of fairness I will add that he also cheated on another wife with multiple sclerosis.

[–] Hadriscus@lemm.ee 11 points 3 days ago

Great side by side

[–] uberdroog@lemmy.world 259 points 4 days ago (8 children)

This the guy who cheated while his wife was dying of cancer?

[–] _bcron_@lemmy.world 79 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Naw, that was just a rumor. She had cancer or a tumor and they were fighting over divorce but the papers were served months ago, and she wasn't on her deathbed.

But, he divorced her, got married again, cheated on #2 while in the midst of the Clinton scandal (talk about family values!), divorced her, got married a third time, and that's when I quit paying attention to this dude. Dunno if he's on #4 yet or what.

Needless to say, this dude gives relationship advice like a 6 year old gives tips on replacing a timing belt.

Like, if someone's spouse is made to be uncomfortable talking about something sensitive to the point that go all sneaky about it, who they voted for is not the problem at all. These guys can't see the forest for the trees, no wonder they can't just form a solid lasting relationship

He accuses the Democrat party of promoting dishonesty? Jesus fucking Christ. This is a guy who pushed the Big Lie that the 2020 Election was stolen. The sheer hypocrisy. Every accusation a confession.

Throughout his congressional campaign in 1974, Gingrich was having an affair with a young volunteer. An aide who worked with Gingrich throughout the 1970s stated that "it was common knowledge that Newt was involved with other women during his marriage to Jackie."
...
In September 1980, according to friends who knew them both, Newt visited Jackie in the hospital the day after she had undergone surgery to treat her uterine cancer; once there, Newt began talking about the terms of their divorce, at which point Jackie threw him out of the room

In 1993, while still married to Marianne, Gingrich began an affair with House of Representatives staffer Callista Bisek, more than two decades his junior.[278] Gingrich was having this affair even as he led the impeachment of Bill Clinton for perjury related to Clinton's own extramarital affair.[279][128] Gingrich filed for divorce from Marianne in 1999, a few months after she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Sauce: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newt_Gingrich

My stepmother was doing her undergrad (and a few years later her law degree) from the University of West Georgia when he was a professor of history there and had started his first congressional campaign. She said literally every woman in school was aware of his affairs with students.

Moral decay in 2024? This is just yet another year of accusations fueled by projection from the right.

[–] collapse_already@lemmy.ml 19 points 3 days ago

Let's not omit that he got fined $300k for ethics violations in 1997 and was found to have accepted 1.7M in bribes (calling them what they are) from Freddie Mac shortly before Freddie wrecked the economy.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I legit thought this guy died.

One of the other ones, I guess.

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago

Crazy I was about to say the same thing!

Hugely influential in turning the GOP from "Side of politics we can debate and respectfully disagree with" to "Completely unhinged violent movement based on panic, hatred, and intellectual brain rot."

He's basically described like some bygone disaster and yet he's still kickin'. Holy crap.

There's a cozy spot in whatever hell right next to Kissinger for this vile beast. Another spot beside it waiting to be filled is likely labeled "Murdoch."

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 210 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Yeah! Individual voters casting their vote based on their own judgment and conscience is sick!!!

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 63 points 4 days ago

It's undemocratic! What is this, some sort of a republic? One founded on freedoms? spits

The king will hear about this...

Fwiw, muh boys, you can do the same: doesn't matter how big of nazis your family/coworkers are and that they'd literally want you dead for voting Harris - they don't see your ballot. So vote Harris, then go back to the break room and bitch about her and talk whatever nazi talk you need to to fit in - cuz sure, you tooootaly voted against that conniving evil bitch! ...or at least as far as they're concerned you did: you can let your vote to save the US be a nice little secret. It all gud.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 56 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Lied to my dad told him I voted Trump just so he would stop his bullshit rants. But fuck yeah I voted Harris all the way. Fuck Trump and Fuck this guy. Thought he was fucking dead.

I mean, he's right in one way, you certainly ought to be able to talk about who you are voting for without fear. Communication, debate, and choose for yourself. So really the far right are just reaping what they have sown, I don't see how he can blame the ad.

[–] MapleEngineer@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

Women should vote this time because they might lose the right to vote next time. I guarantee that if Trump wins but its clear that many women voted against the wishes of their husband some Project 2025 shit heel is going to come up with the idea that men should be able to vote by proxy for their wives so that they don't vote wrong and cancel out their husband's vote.

Man this guy just won't die. He keeps coming back to fuck up politics over and over again.

[–] MonkeMischief@lemmy.today 2 points 2 days ago

I legit wouldn't be surprised at this point if Qanon was right, but it was just another case of their own ilk blaming others for what they're already doing.

The entire party is "weird" at this point and refuse to die whilst leading incredibly unhealthy lives. Who's to say they aren't up to occult dark-ritual weirdness, mad science, and siphoning lifeforce from kidnapped youth around the world?

(Yes I'm being satirical but also if it had any truth to it, it would TOTALLY be THESE GUYS doing it and blaming it on "the others" amirite?)

Serial Philanderer Makes "Moral" Judgement . FTFY

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 39 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Wow. Good thing the ad didn't tell them their husbands don't control what they do with their bodies.

Oh wait... their church pastors,.community leaders and republican leaders already did that.

TAX AND AUDIT THE CHURCHES.

[–] celeste@kbin.earth 65 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Our moral backbone, Newt Gingrich:

https://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/exclusive-gingrich-lacks-moral-character-president-wife/story?id=15392899

She (Marianne Gingrich) said Newt moved for the divorce just months after she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, with her then-husband present.

"He also was advised by the doctor when I was sitting there that I was not to be under stress. He knew," she said.

Gingrich divorced his first wife, Jackie, as she was being treated for cancer. His relationship with Marianne began while he was still married to Jackie but in divorce proceedings, Marianne said.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 20 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

All of this was going on in private, while publicly, he was spearheading the vanguard of what has become the modern Christo-fascist movement. "Moral Majority," he called it. While cheating on his terminally ill wife.

Fucking snake.

Women having independent thoughts 🤢🤮 ^/s^

[–] SGG@lemmy.world 69 points 4 days ago

Every accusation is an admission.

If the social integrity of Americans (not all, you know which ones) was in good condition, women would not need to hide their vote due to fear of retaliation.

Newt Ginbitch wants women scared and repressed, wants morals to decay, because if not most women would vote to keep their rights.

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 46 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Gingrich, who faced his own scandals, cited Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s recent split from the Democrats as further proof of disillusionment with what he sees as their corrupt influence.

Seriously? He thinks the brain worm guy leaving the Democratic party to side with the Republicans is proof that the Democrats are bad?

I don’t think a serial cheater and divorcée has any business discussing the appropriate parameters for marriage.

Edit: How old is he? The pic makes him look like a bleached sarcophagus.
