You're doing it wrong. It sounds like you're following some goofy rules about what Thanksgiving is supposed to be.

Turkey? Yeah, sure, we'll have one. Ours wears a woven blanket made of bacon to cook. Never had it come out dry.

Ham too, why not. Lasagna, of course. Crab cakes, definitely. Maybe a beef roast or ribs.

Sides? No fewer than 12. Chestnut stuffing, potato filling, green beans, roasted potatoes, caprese salad, broccoli, asparagus, etc.

Desserts. Should be four or five. Pumpkin pie (don't like it? Good. I wanted it all anyway). Cherry pie. Apple pie. Blueberry pie, chocolate cream roll, ice cream, etc.

Based on your description, whoever is cooking your food doesn't know how to do it right. It's not like Thanksgiving requires you to cook everything wrong.

The "screaming" is their version of flirting. They've been buried a long time, and they don't have much time to get their groove on.

It's the other end of the spectrum from "extremely normal"

the US doesn't give their citizens the same rights as those in other countries receive.

The U.S. doesn't give their citizens the same rights that the U.S. constitution has.

When people ask me why I like Linux, my go-to reason is my main personal machine. I use it for everything I do outside of work, including running my Emby server.

I built it from $500 worth of parts 13 years ago. I've kept updating the os and applications. It's starting to slow down a bit after the last os upgrade, but it's still plenty usable.

I am getting concerned about the spinning platters. As far as I am aware, Linux won't prevent an ancient hard disk drive from reaching the natural end of is life.

It's probably time to move on to a new machine. Well, new motherboard, CPU, RAM, and disks at least.

I can't think of a time in my Internet life when "Well, duh" was so often the most appropriate response to so many posts.

This is what comes from not having anyone in your life who can tell you you're an idiot.

So sitting on my ass eating candy isn't the way to lose weight?

We survived a very rough period about a quarter century ago that taught leadership the value of fiscal responsibility. It was quite literally an existential crisis. The lessons carried us through multiple economic downturns in the intervening years including the pandemic.

Regarding the challenging cases that are deemed too unprofitable by other institutions, our solution is to improve both the quality and the efficiency of their treatment so that we are able to cover expenses without compromising care.

I'm quite proud of the work we do. In a world filled with corporations led by over paid sociopaths, I believe that our (non-profit) organization is doing the right thing for the right reasons.
