They're really doing the 'there's something fundamentally wrong with these people' thing well. And it's working.
Only took a decade, but at least it is progress.
I'm not entirely at ease with the characterization of this as them doing it performatively, or as part of a narrative. Everything nowadays is slavishly reduced to "optics" and agendas.
I will equivocate though; Swalwell's reaction here is effective because it mirrors the reaction many of us have had to the dark turns of our friends and loved ones in recent years. This madness has frayed our social fabric, maybe irreparably.
If optics is how you win elections, then go with the optics. And it seems to be optics.
Yup. I would personally love it if the electorate studied the various policies of candidates that wished to be their representatives, decided which ones' positions were the most beneficial to themselves and to the country as a whole (which is indirectly beneficial to themselves, after all) and then selected that one on a rational basis. If we lived in that world then each candidates' campaign would ideally focus on debating issues and presenting their views.
We don't live in that world, alas. I've become cynical about democracy of late because the electorate are a bunch of sports team fans who just want "their guy" to win. Well, so be it then. It's kind of an emergency right now so play whatever strategy keeps the regressive loons out of power.

"When they go low, we go high" has been proven to be a losing strategy over and over.

I mean, I don't eat meat at all myself, but I seem to remember ducks are farmed for their meat...

I had duck eggs once. They tasted fishy. I did not have duck eggs again.
Wild duck meat can also taste kinda fishy, I think due to their natural diet.
Haven’t noticed it in the eggs but if I’m eating duck eggs they’re usually salted duck eggs which is a whole ‘nother experience.
Farmed duck eggs generally don't taste fishy, but they are richer and a little different than chicken eggs.
They shouldn't be fishy at all; I've had hundreds in my life (they are the standard here), they're just richer.

Considering several other people said wild duck eggs taste fishy, I'm thinking that it's a fish diet on the duck's part rather than the grain it would be fed on a farm.
The two others mentioned the meat can taste "kinda fishy", not the eggs. The other said farmed ones don't taste fishy, they're just richer.

The thing is, they aren't tortured when they are overfeed, so they become Foie gras. It's pretty well understood that they fuckin love being overfeed. Watch some of the videos, they don't mind at all. Doesn't really make it right but it's not torture anymore than it's torturing that much of the processed food humans eat has the same results when someone has low self control.
