Bit optimistic that this will get to a trial.

My money is on an accident in a cell.

The cynic in me will also point out that they don't actually need the real killer either. Any random person resembling the pictures will do.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Lee_Stinson_Case

They falsely convicted a guy using "teeth marks" psudoscience BS.

Who's to say they wont also do it for a high-profile case?

[–] CeruleanRuin@lemmings.world 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That would be awfully risky if they didn't already have the real vigilante in custody or on a slab, at which point what's the point of having a fake?

Like imagine if they announced they caught him or shot him and then the real guy targets another of the bastards?

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They'll just blame it on a copycat killer and start arresting any one who walks on the same side of the street as a corporate CEO

[–] RangerJosie@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

For once in my life, I'm looking forward to copycats this time.

Dude merc'd a demon and got celebrated across the nation. Paradigm shift stuff.

[–] schema@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago

"He stabbed himself in the back multiple times"

[–] ProgrammingSocks@pawb.social 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I don't think so. Epstein was a very high-profile person. This guy isn't. There's no secrets he can spill. I think if he dies under suspicious circumstances it'll be suicide by cop.

[–] RangerJosie@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

If that dude gets on the stand and tells a sob story shared by millions of other Americans of watching family members die due to insurwnce companies denying coverage. There's a non zero chance things get spicy.

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 66 points 2 weeks ago (5 children)

If he is caught there will not be a trial

[–] m4xie@lemmy.blahaj.zone 53 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He'll kill himself while both his guards take their break on the other side of the prison and the camera temporarily malfunctions.

[–] NotBillMurray@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Or be killed while "resisting arrest"

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

They would just say they found his dead body

[–] makyo@lemmy.world 21 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Probably but they should be careful about martyring this guy now

[–] FinalRemix@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I dunno... some days I feel like one of a dozen people that actually remembers the Chris Dorner week. People have a very very short, selective memory.

[–] ianhclark510@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Did something happen to Chris Corner? I love the Sneaker Pimps! :(

[–] ianhclark510@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago

Thanks, that was a pretty crazy read, I guess I wasn’t paying mich attention in 2013

They will just claim he was armed and shoot him on the spot

[–] KoboldCoterie@pawb.social 15 points 2 weeks ago

If this comes to pass, I hope it results in riots.

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

If they're not careful, they'll have a much, much larger LA Riots situation.

[–] muntedcrocodile@lemm.ee 38 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Especially if people keep recklessly keep talking about jury nullification

[–] CeruleanRuin@lemmings.world 14 points 2 weeks ago

I know, it's awfully irresponsible to educate folks like that.

[–] Homescool@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

Or posting a picture of the wrong suspect ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–] Bread@sh.itjust.works 35 points 2 weeks ago

I am under the belief that there was no murder and he had a preexisting condition of lead poisoning. As such, we unfortunately do not cover these kinds of conditions in our penal system and his claim must be denied.

He’s gonna have the best lawyers possible with all of the legal donations from people

[–] ProgrammingSocks@pawb.social 18 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

If they find him, the jury WILL be hand picked to be the biggest bootlickers of all time.

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 weeks ago

Doesn't the defense also have veto over jury members?

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 weeks ago

If they ever find him, the cops will gun him down

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Juries are always hand picked. Having an engineering or science background, having out spoken political opinions, or expressing a knowledge of Jury Nullification are red flags on good days. Lawyers are only trained to deal with influencable types of people. If you want to be selected, be the type of person who watches and believes advertises.

[–] capital@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

[X] Doubt.

Y’all live in a fantasy world.

If they find him and if he makes it alive to a jury trial, I think there’s a good chance he’s convicted.

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemm.ee 10 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

*democratic immunity

[–] bhamlin@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Especially since there aren't twelve billionaires who would feel safe showing up together to sit on his jury.

[–] luciferofastora@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

They'd be biased too, so one way or another, it would be one hell of an explosive story.

[–] sik0fewl@lemmy.ca 6 points 2 weeks ago

12 Angry Men 2? This movie sucks.
