Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Nothing is wrong with him, at least when compared to how he typically acts. This is just who he is. A total narcissist who can't imagine being at any event if it's not all about him. This was just a photo op, just like any other, to him.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 59 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

This is it, right here. He can't turn off for cameras, he needs the attention viscerally, and he's well aware of the old axiom "there's no such thing as bad publicity." Further, he revels in the fact that people are upset that he doesn't respect anything or anyone at all except himself, because it's a display of power that he has the power to not give a shit and shirk consequences. He eats up that we're disgusted with his behavior, fucking loves it.

What would actually fuck with his ego is being ignored.

Wouldn’t be the first time. This was him on 9/11/2018 shortly before giving a memorial speech near where Flight 93 crashed:

What a weird time to reenact his favorite porn.

Didn't Donald Trump say he was in with the Taliban last night? Why would it be Surprising he's Smiling at a 9/11 Memorial?

I mean this is FAKE NEWS! FAKE NEWS! I'm a PATRIOTIC REPUBLICAN!

"What's wrong with Trump?"

Shouldn't be the question.

"What ISN'T wrong with Trump?"

[–] billiam0202@lemmy.world 24 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"What isn't wrong with Trump?" is a much shorter list, honestly.

He posed for a picture smiling and giving the thumbs up while standing in front of tombs on dead soldiers not even a month ago.

He is a spoiled rich kid with no will to understand the gravity of the situations that don't affect him.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 57 points 2 months ago

"As names of victims were read aloud," Bender wrote, "Trump, who had been mostly stone faced in the presence of Biden and Harris, flashed smiles at the crowd and alternated between a thumbs-up and a pointed index finger before he gathered his entourage and headed for the exit."

Jackass.

He's still in "I have the tallest building now"-mode

This is, like, absolutely normal for him. Dudes a complete psychopathic narcissist.

The "Arlington smile".

[–] DandomRude@lemmy.world 19 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

He probably remembered his tasteless lie that he owned the tallest building in Manhattan after the Twin Towers collapsed. He said this to a TV station on 9/11/2001. No one asked him for this interview; he found it necessary to call there in order to flatter himself with falsehoods instead of mourning the victims. He hasn't changed a bit since then.

I stand corrected. Maybe antisemites should be supporting Donald.

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I hope you didn't mean this with any genuine malice, cuz that got a solid chuckle out of this Jew

[–] Cephalotrocity@biglemmowski.win 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'm sorry, but it was said with some malice towards antisemites.

[–] thefartographer@lemm.ee 8 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Oh shoot, some of my family's friends and neighbors from back in Poland were antisemites, though! And then they went along with letting my family members die in the ghettos or get taken to the concentration camps.

Hmmm... Nevermind, fuck antisemites.

ETA: one of my grandmother's cousins and her mother were taken to Dachau where a high-ranking officer found them charming and attractive, so he gave them kitchen duties. This meant they had access to extra food and would sneak food into the barracks.

When this was discovered, the officer's supervisors made the officer punish them by giving them hard labor manufacturing boots. So they intentionally made the boots wrong, packed mismatched pairs, etc so that numerous German soldiers would suffer frostbite that winter when their boots failed.
