“Kamala Harris prosecuted transnational gang members and got them sentenced to prison; Trump is trying to avoid being sentenced to prison,” it adds, hitting Trump over his legal issues."

lmao

“After killing the toughest border deal in decades, Donald Trump is running on his trademark lies because his own record and ‘plans’ are extreme and unpopular. As a former district attorney, attorney general, and now vice president, Kamala Harris has spent her career taking on and prosecuting violent criminals and making our communities safer. She’ll do the same as president,” Harris spokesperson Ammar Moussa said in a statement.

I’m glad someone’s mentioning Trump killing the border deal this year. If he wants to talk about the border, let’s talk about that. The Senate should pass it again, to make headlines when Mike Johnson refuses to put it on the House floor.

First time a political ad got me to laugh (in a good way):

Harris (...) got [transnational gang members] sentenced to prison.

Trump is trying to avoid being sentenced to prison.

[–] TransplantedSconie@lemm.ee 22 points 1 month ago

Fuck yes. Hammer home that the slimy fucker stopped a republican bill to fix the border because he sucks balls.

Here is a transcript for anyone who can't watch the video.

On the Border, the choice is simple. Kamala Harris supports increasing the number of border patrol agents. Donald Trump blocked a bill to increase the number of border patrol agents. Kamala Harris supports investing in new technology to block fentanyl from entering the country. Donald Trump blocked funding for technology to block fentanyl from entering the country. Kamala Harris supports spending more money to stop human traffickers. Donald Trump blocked money to stop human traffickers. Kamala Harris prosecuted transnational gang members and got them sentenced to prison. Trump is trying to avoid being sentenced to prison There's two choices in this election: The one who will fix our broken immigration system and the one who's trying to stop her.

Not a fan of the democrats trying to position themselves further right than republicans on border policy. Maybe now would be the time to challenge the migrant problem as a systemic issue, countries which we destabilize to this day. 4D chess sure lol but not a great look telling fascist republicans they were right all along about border security.

I have a dream. that one day this world will rise and say, "america, youre fucking wrong!"

...and, for once, we will care.

[–] finley@lemm.ee 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Well, that’s what Kamala has been doing for a lot of the past few years: going to many central and South American countries and trying to figure out the systemic causes. Not being a “border czar”, as the right likes to claim.

Trying to pass that ghastly border bill was really just a political ploy the democrats knew the republicans would kill and that the dems knew they could use against the republicans later— and now’s that time. And it couldn’t have worked more perfectly.

Certainly, if Kamala wins and dems get control of the house, they’ll pass something far more reasonable.

There's two choices in this election:

A convicted felon or a worthy presidential candidate.

In a sane(er) world this wouldn't even be considered a choice.

The Hill. Shilling for Harris.

The... m-fing HILL?? Harris.

I'm not ready for this.

I... I need drink and a nap. And to digest this (apparently) new order.

/whaaaat?

[–] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 21 points 1 month ago (1 children)

In a lot of ways political ads are the background music to campaigns. Politicos like to see them because of that. This one is proactive by Harris. She's not letting Trump define her. The bit that Harris "sent transnational gang member to prison", while Trump is "trying to avoid going to prison" is a real kick in the nuts. Anyway, enjoy your drink and nap.

[–] modifier@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 month ago

The campaign messaging has been so crisp, almost immediately. It's really impressive, and I just hope they can maintain and build on this momentum over the next ninety plus days.

The Hill has never been a good news organization

Idk why this story would be a problem but they’re not good

[–] solidgrue@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I know them as somewhat hard-right leaning rag so this is an odd piece, even for them.

And so I commented on it.

[–] mosiacmango@lemm.ee 5 points 1 month ago

Clicks are money, and harris is getting clicks.
