I'd love to be on a GLP-1 (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, etc). I've had Wegovy prescribed, but my plan excludes it and the others unless you have diabetes.

It's definitely one of the current "trendy" prescriptions in the USA right now, which I hate since a lot of people are using them as "get thin quick" hacks that will fix their life. Being a 300lb guy without diabetes where general diet and exercise aren't dropping the pounds, my prescriber said I'd be a perfect candidate for it.

Is this in regards to a specific recent event or article? Or just purely hypothetical?

In practice, an AI that's trained on drug-drug interactions, duplicate therapies, and common dosings would be beneficial. We already have specialized models that are helping scientists discover groundbreaking technologies, such as recent advancements in discovering cancers years before we are used to with more traditional methods.

Let's look at your hypothetical. Prescriber sends in an order to their in-house pharmacy for amoxicillin and the patient has a recorded penicillin allergy. Under ideal circumstances, the pharmacist would review the patients chart, note the potential for a reaction (While they are different antibiotics, there is still potential for a reaction due to the drugs being related), and contact the prescriber to verify therapy and discuss if a change to another antibiotic is in order. (This is all ignoring the fact that for an ear infection you'd likely get an otic ear drop, not an oral suspension. Something like Neo-Poly-Dex or ofloxacin).

Unfortunately the pharmacy hellscape we're in today leads to rushed verifications, where therapies aren't being checked too closely and many things get missed. Pharmacies already have systems in place to warn techs and pharmacists of any interactions with recorded allergies, but if you're traveling or need to go to a new pharmacy or doctor, things get missed.

An AI that is trained on these specific things would help alleviate some of the pressure of the already overworked pharmacy staff, while giving consise and consistent information. If a pharmacist misses an allergy or interaction, the AI could send a warning to them and the prescriber.

Note that I'm referring to job specific AI, that are trained for specific purposes. A general LLM, which it sounds like you're referring to, would not be able to work in these environments.

Source: I audit pharmacy claims, with training in retail, LTC, and PBM pharmacy settings. It's literally my job to catch the errors (both billing and clinical) that pharmacies make.

To preface, I am not defending the police or the piece of shit abuser. This was handled extraordinarily horrendously. Police even knew about the guy's crimes and let him off without a slap on the wrist.

The basis of my thoughts comes from this paragraph in the article:

Police said that Kizer travelled from Milwaukee to Volar's home in Kenosha in June 2018 armed with a gun. She shot him twice in the head, set his house on fire and took his car.

I don't know any info beyond what the article gives, but it sounds like at that point she wasn't being held captive and murdered to get away from her abuser. She actively plotted and had the freedom to travel and kill him. Unless there's something I'm missing, I don't think I could consider this as actively being self defense.

Oh yeah, I'm not unaware of the quality loss over the years. It's an occasional craving for their particular taste. Love the sweet onion chicken teriyaki.

It's the customer service that really tanked here (I'm in the affected area from what I can tell). It seemed like there were never more than 2 people working at any of the stores here, even during busy hours. Wouldn't surprise me if the owner was responsible for that as well.

I'm curious if this is why the stores here have been lackluster for the last couple years. General fast food getting worse overall, but the Subways have been pretty bottom of the barrel. Article said the stores are going to be sold to a new "experienced" franchisee, so hopefully when they reopen they have a higher quality.

It depends on your client. In Sync, you need to click into the post then the image to get full resolution. Clicking the image from the front page just blows up the thumbnail

Same, been using it long before it was bought by Microsoft. It has customizations I like, and (when it works properly) I can copy and paste between my phone and computer.

With Sunlu's new filament joiner coming out, I might give this a try by splicing segments of different browns together into a big roll. It's a very near concept, and your print looks amazing!

It's hard to be non-biased. There's not a single person who does not have a bias of some sort. The way people get bent out of shape over the bot makes me sad. It gives a decent starting point for anyone looking to start learning about the different biases and how different outlets report information. Of course it's not a perfect bot or website it's getting the info from, but it's a valuable tool.

I did block it myself though. Sync gives large previews of links, so it did get a bit spammy. This could be disabled in the app's settings, but it's a feature I like so I can easily get to linked articles or videos. Wish I could turn it off for bots

Edit: I was ready to have an honest discussion/debate about the flaws of our current electoral process and the repercussions of our current candidates, but holy fuck that's not happening now after looking through your posts and comments. What's wrong with you? You think being transracial is an actual thing? That we can change our race on a whim? Buddy, there's something going on in your head, and you should seek expert advice from a therapist. For your own health and safety at least. To use a buzz word that's been a pretty big hit lately, you're being "weird". And not in any way is it a good quirky weird. It's a bad weird.

Leaving my response below for anyone who may read it in the future, but I will no longer be responding or interacting with this thread or any other you create. Ban me from the community if you so wish, as is your right to do in your community.

One of the duties of voting is to make sure you are educated on the facts of current policies and issues. This includes reading materials set out by current candidates (Project 2025), listening to those who are running (Trump telling his followers that they won't have to vote in the future), and talking with our fellow Americans about what we believe the correct course for the country is (what we are doing here).

The facts have been laid out by the different parties. My preference on the best juice to drink is an opinion. What will happen if Trump takes office again is fact.

We lost several districts in Washington state to republican and GOP candidates in our recent Primary election. In a number of those districts, more people voted for the Democrat and 3rd Party candidates than for the Republican/GOP candidates, but because we don't have ranked choice voting none of them won. To many "strong candidates" weakened those districts, and now they will face the hardships of no good candidate winning.

Do not tell me splitting the vote isn't real. It is as real as the sun or gravity.

If the democrats are scared of losing votes, then they can focus on getting a stronger candidate.

This only works in a system with set parties, such as our 2 party system, which as you stated you do not believe in. Either way, a stronger candidate has been put forth.

I fully respect that we get to choose who to vote for. But we must also be willing to face the consequences if our respective candidates do not win.

If your candidate loses, and Trump is back in the White House due to a split vote taking voters away from the current best shot away from fascism, are you prepared to take responsibility for not working within the confines of our country's horribly messed up system?

[–] MrQuallzin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (4 children)

You're right, democracy does thrive on diversity of thought. You're wrong on your responsibility though. We face a threat unseen in our country before and we as citizens are responsible for making sure this is not our last presidential election. I'd love third party candidates who better fit my beliefs, but the reality is that we live in a 2 party system. The system is rigged. Until we have ranked choice voting country-wide, there will not be a 3rd party president.

Do not split the vote. If Trump wins, you may no longer have a chance to voice your opinions on how our country is ran. This is not fearmongering, this is fact.

[–] MrQuallzin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (6 children)

This is not the election where we should be trying to split the vote. Without ranked choice voting, splitting the vote will put Trump back in office.

I'm working on 3D printing the Kubic case, but would like some guidance on hardware to buy for it.

I currently have an old laptop running some Docker containers, including the .arr stack and Plex, plus Immich for photo backups, and a few other odds and ends. Don't want to break the bank, but I'm looking for something to at least handle transcoding video for Plex.

Needs:

  • ITX Motherboard
  • Discreet GPU (Max 210mm long, 2 slots thick (max 41mm))
  • SFX Power Supply
  • 140mm chassis fan (Max 30mm thick)

Thanks in advance!

Hello fellow self-hosters,

I'm fairly new to hosting my own services and have been learning as I go, but have run into an issue and am not sure where to look for answers. Hoping you all can help a confused soul out.

Up until now, I've been running the .arr services (Sonarr, Radarr, Overseerr, etc.) on my Windows machine with minimal issue, but I've been working on setting up a separate Debian machine to get it off my main PC.

I'm following this guide to get everything setup, and at this point I have all my services setup and running, but I can't seem to get Radarr and Sonarr to work correctly. My indexers work, Radarr will grab the wanted file and Deluge will download it, but when the download finishes it just stays in limbo; Radarr is unable to import it into the library due to invalid permissions (It doesn't have Write permissions).

I've done sudo chown -R $USER:$USER /path/to/ROOT/directory and sudo chown -R $USER:$USER /path/to/HDDSTORAGE/directory as the guide instructs under 'Folder Structure' (of course replacing the paths with my actual paths), but to no avail.

Where I think the problem is is my actual Media Library. All the services are running on their own laptop, but my 10TB HDD is still in my main Windows PC. Until I build a new rig specifically for the server, I can't put the HDD into the laptop. In Windows, the TV and Movie folders are network shared and I have them mounted on my server in the respective locations where Radarr and Sonarr should be looking. At this point, the .arr services can definitely read the mounted directories, but can't make new ones for new shows and movies.
