NASA administrator Bill Nelson called for an investigation into a report that Elon Musk has been having secret conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin while dually involved in classified intelligence contracts with the U.S. government.

“I don’t know that that story is true. I think it should be investigated,” Nelson said Fridayat a Semafor conference in Washington. “If the story’s true, that there have been multiple conversations between Elon Musk and the president of Russia, then I think that would be concerning, particularly for NASA, the Department of Defense, for some of the intelligence agencies.”

Yank the fuckers top secret clearance IMMEDIATELY

[–] WaxedWookie@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

Should have happened after he started fucking with Starlink in Ukraine to aid a hostile state actor. Insanity.

[–] thesporkeffect@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

Yes, AND nationalize spaceX

[–] Spitzspot@lemmings.world 73 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Can we revoke his government contracts now?

[–] Maestro@fedia.io 35 points 2 days ago

Better: maybe this gives SpaceX leverage to boot Musk and get away from the madness before the X fiasco sinks Tesla

[–] horse_battery_staple@lemmy.world 35 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

And all of his tax breaks too please

[–] SomeoneElse@lemmy.ca 35 points 2 days ago (2 children)

How can someone with that much money look like such a dork?

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It's the ugly growth on his neck. If he would just get that removed, we'd all like him much more.

[–] MisterD@lemmy.ca 12 points 2 days ago

His head? I know! Ew

[–] Entertainmeonly@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I think you're giving too much credit to surgery. He'd still be a huge dork. That little flap of skin didn't dress him in the morning.

[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I assumed they were referring to his head...

[–] NABDad@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Oh! Is that what that thing is? I still say he should get rid of it. It's not doing him any favors.

[–] PrincessLeiasCat@sh.itjust.works 44 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This is great, assuming Nelson or someone similar is NASA Admin after January and not Elon Musk. That’s a fucking terrifying thought.

I'd like someone else as NASA admin tbh... We need to axe the SLS.

[–] Nuke_the_whales@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

Silly cheaf. We don't investigate billionaires

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 33 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ooo please tell me Musk leaked some secrets… please tell me he’s about to get a dank cell someplace…. Unpleasant.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Hmm... I want him to be in a dark cell, but I also don't want Russia to have any advantages because of what he did.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Russia is collapsing, probably somewhere around 2025-2026, hi-tech won't help them. So as a trade-off I'd take a little secret to putin for an unpleasant cell for musko.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Then they sell that info to China. I'm still not happy about it. But I'll take it if it means Musk in a cell.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Oh yeah didn't think about that. Possibly to Iran and NK too...

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 12 points 2 days ago

Half of America is reciting the narcissists prayer on their behalf right now.

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

It should be looked into.

[–] chemical_cutthroat@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Ohhhh boy. Don't fuck with the space program.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 18 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (4 children)

The severely under funded space program? Oh yeah, that things super valued.

[–] EtherWhack@lemmy.world 26 points 2 days ago

Well, NASA sometimes works with sensitive info and projects of which sometimes can get shared with their contractors, SpaceX included. Having Musk going through with his escapades, acting otherwise unstably, and now talking with an unfriendly figure to the US. It starts to raise some serious questions regarding national security. NASA is more or less just bringing it to attention.

[–] Crismus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

They're underfunded mainly because Congress would rather spend money through SpaceX instead of NADA, because they can make money from SpaceX and other private goons. NASA benefits all Americans, which is just Communism...

[–] linearchaos@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Just because they're underfunded doesn't mean they lack teeth. SpaceX isn't launching in the US without them.

[–] Kbobabob@lemmy.world -2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

Lol, everything in the states is under funded with the exception of the military, so it's a good thing the military doesn't need to send anything to space.

Edit: Apparently I dropped this /s

[–] Kbobabob@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I'm aware of this. I don't understand what point you're making though. Are you saying that SpaceX hasn't sent up anything for the military?

[–] JohnnyCanuck@lemmy.ca 5 points 2 days ago

I think we're confused by what you're saying.

[–] horse_battery_staple@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

The military sends their own stuff up, NASA isn't involved.

SpaceX don't send anything up yet for the military but they start next year.

Frankly I'm more concerned about the military using Starlink than SpaceX rockets.

Our entire intelligence network is dependent on the space program because satellites.

[–] thesporkeffect@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

He didn't really call for it though... He just vaguely said that if it was true, it should be investigated - in a way that doesn't commit him to action.
