A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.

"going anywhere" AKA being instantly vaporized and having the dust of your remains carried around the world by the wind.

To quote my best guy:

The Nazis entered this war under the rather childish delusion that they were going to bomb everyone else, and nobody was going to bomb them.

That's Bomber Harris, my dude.

And people were dumb enough to let them believe that until they had made a huge, huge mess already. I see some of the same shit today, just more domestically.

I mean, why limit yourself to just one place when you can visit them all?

Why are you guys talking about nuclear weapons? She's referring to the "dirty bomb" that she dropped in a Nando's bathroom in London 2014

[–] obinice@lemmy.world 26 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Assuming she survived the nukes the UK immediately sent in response - and then perhaps others sent by other NATO nations for good measure - I imagine she'd have her choice of places to visit in the world, yes.

...Because there'd be a whole lot of new theatres of war open for her to be deployed to as her country faces full scale invasion by the 32 Allied Nations.

[–] Nurgus@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Would the allied nations want to imvade the smouldering ruins of Russia though?

[–] Ummdustry@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Would there still be oil under russian soil after nuclear war?

[–] Nurgus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Fair point..

[–] InverseParallax@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago

Least war-mongering Russian.

If the men don't find you handsome, at least they'll find you sociopathic.

[–] Saledovil@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Why London? Russia isn't at war with the UK.

[–] Diddlydee@feddit.uk 16 points 1 month ago

Russia loves to posture with their empty threats.

[–] qaz@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

The UK has been publicly supporting Ukraine from early on.

[–] Ummdustry@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

They hate us cuz they ain't us

[–] drunkpostdisaster@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

She is just looking at it as a professional. I do not see the problem.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Ask Germany how well that works

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 1 month ago

Someone's fishing for a promotion.

[–] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What the helliszat? Yelena's prom picture?

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So, I haven't watched this series yet and now I have a question. Did they name the ghoul "Ghoul?" Because in the games any person who is exposed to radiation that has a certain mutation becomes a ghoul instead of just dead, it's more like a mutation than it is a specific person, and on top of that only some retain a shred of their humanity, most becoming feral. Like, famous ghouls include Gob (my favorite), Hancock, Festus, Harold (other favorite), Calamity, etc. Did the show change that?

[–] Fridgeratr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

So far he's just "the ghoul" but there are some pre-war scenes about him before he was a ghoul, and he does have a name there

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

Ah ok, well that's good. Has he called anyone "smoothskin" yet?
