I'm afraid you've run out of Lemmy userbase

[–] Speculater@lemmy.world 32 points 1 month ago (3 children)

There's barely 500 active users, think this is the end of the line folks.

[–] threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 month ago (1 children)

These posts have actually pushed !mathmemes@lemmy.blahaj.zone up to 941 users / day, so I think we've got a chance at making it. We're already past the halfway point after less than 6 hours.

I just subscribed. I can verify that this has reached the front page and is drawing people in.

[–] Redjard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

let x be the number of people like this

x = x+1

Am I doing this right?

[–] davidagain@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

As a programmer: Yes. Absolutely.

As a mathematician: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

[–] itslilith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Don't worry, x is element of the multiplicative group of integers modulo 1

We better get people to register.

Username checks out.

[–] Brickhead92@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Get out there people and spread the good word!

"Have you heard about our saviour Rainb0wSkeppy@lemmy.world."

[–] elrik@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

I'm doing my part!

[–] Sparky@lemmy.blahaj.zone 37 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Make it a vector image so I can zoom in forever

[–] Rainb0wSkeppy@lemmy.world 22 points 1 month ago

idk if lemmy supports vector images

Oh man this is fun. I remember we had another meme here, uuuh what was it "twice as wide en passant"? What ever happened to that?

Alright folks, lets do this! For the 8th iteration!

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I want another iteration after this one, but if we get a next one it's almost certainly the final iteration. These posts were consistently getting upper 200s until the last one made it into the 400s. This tells me that people who were on the fence about this gave an up vote to keep it going one more time that hadn't been up voting it before. Maybe there's enough people who want to keep it going one more time to cross today's threshold, but I doubt people who weren't feeling this before are going to be converted and get us beyond 5x what people were voting on it before it got close to its natural ending point

[–] whostosay@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

we don't talk like that, it's fuckin going

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 7 points 1 month ago (2 children)

You right. Where was my religious fervor

[–] whostosay@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

hell yeah brother

[–] threelonmusketeers@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Are we bringing back Pythagoras's triangle cult?

Next up, the Koch snowflake that asymptotically approaches a Hausdorff dimension of (log 4 / log 3) with each post

[–] Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

Taking a triangle and making it into a tri-force = 5 times as many triangles, not 3.

Then taking that and making it into further ti-forces is x3+2

You've failed your math assignment.

[–] Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 month ago (4 children)

OP only counts the white triangles, not the empty space

It would be 3x +2 not 5x

3 is 11

11 is 35

[–] CodexArcanum@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But what about the unlined, non-equilateral triangles that I can draw between any 3 arbitrary points in the given plane? Did you count those triangles!?!

[–] Brickhead92@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Everyone knows non-equilateral triangles aren't real triangles.

[–] JohnOliver@feddit.dk 12 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

729 or 729 and above?

[–] model_tar_gz@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Why you gotta be colorist like that? Black triangles get no say in how deep the Sierpinksy Utopia goes on Lemmy?

I’ve been waiting for my chance to upvote this series when it would matter, but now on this principle I will decline.

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

1457 upvotes is a lot for lemmy

I think we failed! Its not 729. Right now i see 856!

[–] DacoTaco@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh wow, i missed a few. When did we hit that much triangles??

In a couple more iterations we're going to run into resolution problems.

But then Gabriel's Horn runs into paint thickness problems.

[–] bamfic@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

Thanks sierpinski

I'm hoping this makes it to the next round, somehow it makes me smile to see it!

[–] blazeknave@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Still working on those 2.1k eh?
