Welcome to c/WouldYouRather, where we present you with the toughest, most ridiculous choices you never knew you had to make! Would you rather have a third arm that's only useful for picking your nose, or be able to talk to animals but only if they're wearing hats? Yeah, it's that kind of vibe. Come for the absurdity, stay because you've clearly got nothing better to do with your life.

30 per bond you break. The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell and ATP generation involves breaking down many chemical bonds. It out scales all other options in a matter of seconds.

[–] ASDraptor@lemmy.autism.place 12 points 2 months ago

You, sir, just broke the game.

[–] Jesusaurus@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Technical question - would "every bond you break" include atomic bonds from food being broken down?

How bout sticking my hand in a bowl of water a couple times to break a few H-bonds? Or smashing ice if you're gonna be choosy about liquids?

[–] Brickhead92@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

What about nuclear fision?

That's pay day right there

It might not be the most lucrative, but I'd go with steps because it would incentivise healthy behavior

Actually according to my pedometer I've taken 8.7k steps today, and most of that is from running a 5k. That would definitely get me off the couch.

I took 200 today! We're pretty close

Typical breathing rate is 12-20 per minute or 4-$7k per day and you get that even if you sleep all day. So as long as I don't need to individually count and bill for each breath I'll go for that.

If you digest carbohydrates, you wont believe how many bonds you break with every step you take and every move you make.

[–] VelvetStorm@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

They said that doesn't count.

[–] glimse@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago

Breath would be $5000/day and it takes no thought or effort so....that one

[–] bizarroland@fedia.io 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I breathe about 15 breaths a minute on average, which would be about $4.25 a minute for the rest of my life.

I'd make $275 an hour 24 hours a day, which would be over a million dollars a year. I think I could live with that

Passive income.

[–] bizarroland@fedia.io 10 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Is this money that you get paid or what it costs?

I'll take breath money pls and thank you

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I feel like it would make me uncomfortably aware of my own breathing at all times

[–] Lacanoodle@literature.cafe 4 points 2 months ago

You need to learn to not think much about your passive income. Billionaire sigma grindset or smth

[–] Etterra@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I'll be watching you ಠ_ಠ

Pay or receive?

Does movement count autonomic impulses, such as heartbeats, peristalsis, lung movement, vasodilation/contraction, micromuscular firings, and so on? If so, there's a pretty big advantage to taking those nickels.

If we're counting the movement of neurotransmitters in the nervous system, you'll break the world bank with that.

[–] praise_idleness@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago

If you don't walk more than 5000 steps a day, you got a problem. Walk more, get paid. I see this as an absolute win.

[–] boredsquirrel@slrpnk.net 4 points 2 months ago

You know, temperature is just movement of molecules...

When was the last time you were chillin at 0°K ?

Otherwise, probably pretty rich

[–] 0ops@lemm.ee 4 points 2 months ago

It's the Police! Open up! Your wallet!

[–] hate2bme@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

No matter what you choose, I'll be watching

[–] ThePyroPython@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

1 dollar for every step I take would encourage me to be more active and gain wealth at the same time.

[–] anguo@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 months ago

I'll be watching you.

[–] Icalasari@fedia.io 3 points 2 months ago

Do duck noises count as words?

If so, then I'll have it made with the last option

[–] sag@lemm.ee 3 points 2 months ago

100 dollar for every day. I am not greedy

[–] Kyatto@leminal.space 2 points 2 months ago

I work at an inbound call center and I am talkative out of work too so that's an easy 50 cent per word I say for me

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Man, I'd save so much money on talking. And on the plus side, maybe some people would open their mouth less.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world -4 points 2 months ago

None of the options are worth much in the long term, due to inflation.
