As long they don’t add pronouns. God forbid grammar in my games.

[–] LucidNightmare@lemm.ee 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

There was a mod posted on Nexus, which has been so controversial apparently, that the mods had to remove the comments section on it, and post a screenshot of why it was taken down at first.

Like, I just DON'T get it man. Who. The. Fuck. Cares. if there are type 1 and type 2 instead of male and female? I created my character, the exact way I wanted (minus scars, but oh well) and am already moving onto Dark Brotherhood quests. Having a blast, actually!

I just don't get the OBSESSION with people's genitalia. At all. Pisses me off. Sorry.

[–] Zedd_Prophecy@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

You should see the Steam discussion pages - I went there today due to a quest bug to see if there was anyone else with the problem or answer to it and the whole thread has been nerfed by idiots posting crap like " This is why Trump won". I never would have even noticed or cared about the stupid option otherwise.

[–] magic_lobster_party@fedia.io 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

No need to be sorry. It pisses me off as well.

It’s just extra customization options in the character creation screen. If you don’t want to use it, don’t use it. For some, these extra options are great additions. Why go great lengths to deny their enjoyment?

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If it was literally a list of body types I'd get it.. but the way it's implemented makes "male" and "female" feel like "nono words" they're not allowed to say. Which is a bit silly

[–] HiddenLychee@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Does it? To me it gives the impression they forgot to change the name of the option before release. Gender is referenced used everywhere in the game, they didn't really remove it. If they did, then maybe I'd agree.

[–] drolex@sopuli.xyz 50 points 3 days ago

in ~~my~~ the games

Please think of the children

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 42 points 3 days ago (4 children)

They made body type 1 & 2!!

OH THE HUMANITY!!

I NEED a mod to fix this thing that I literally only see for 5 seconds and then never again! I'm literally crying and shaking from the pain!

[–] ryven@lemmy.dbzer0.com 37 points 3 days ago (3 children)

The problem with "body type" is that it is actually a gender selector too, but they don't tell you that. If you're body type 1 NPCs refer to you as she/her, and if you're body type 2 NPCs refer to you as he/him. They needed to add a separate pronoun option, but didn't, so right now the body type option is just the gender option but pretending not to be.

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 7 points 2 days ago

If body type and pronoun were seperate or if there was more than two body types.. I'd understand it replacing gender a lot more.

The way it's implemented it just feels like they're checking a box that says "Corporate doesn't want us to say the G word."

[–] PM_Your_Nudes_Please@lemmy.world 23 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Exactly. It feels performative, because they didn’t take it far enough. Cyberpunk 2077 handled it very well, where you can separately choose whether or not your character has breasts, which genitalia they have, voice type, pronouns, etc… Since every single individual part is independently editable, there’s very little room for misgendering.

[–] VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Cyberpunk actually ties your pronouns to your voice selection. You can't have the feminine voice and be called he/him. There might be a mod for that, though.

[–] eRac@lemmings.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They likely only have a dialogue script for masculine and feminine, which swaps both player and npc dialogue. They'd need four scripts and cutscenes timings to make both player voices work with both NPC pronoun uses.

[–] dabaldeagul@feddit.nl 1 points 1 day ago

In theory, if designed in advance, this shouldn't be too bad right? Make the lines separate audio files, and when one ends (or is x% finished), trigger the next. Would probably suck to implement now the full game is out already, though. And for relatively little benefit (saying this as a trans/NB person) so I get why they didn't add it after (or near) release. I do hope the next game does this better, though.

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 1 points 2 days ago

If "Body Type" worked like it did in Cyberpunk 2077 I'd never complain about it again

[–] Gigasser@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Would've been better if they just did it as "bodytype_masculine" and "bodytype_feminine" or something like that.

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 1 points 2 days ago

This would be the best compromise imo

I wish they would stop acting like snowflakes and then call liberals snowflakes. Liberals just want to treat humans like humans, while conservatives act butthurt about everything.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I couldn't believe the snowflakes complaining in the INZOI discussion section about pronouns and stuff...

Like mother fucker this is a life sim these people exist in life. Have all the bullshit arguments you want about immersion in your medieval fantasy world, you can hide your bigotry behind some fabricated rational there, but you can't even begin to have any sort of "legitimate" argument as to why they don't belong in a life sim.

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

My main complaint about Inzoi is the huge mininum requirements. The second biggest was them patching out the possibility of running over kids with a car

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 3 points 2 days ago

I blame the Germans! I think they have a law that says you can't hurt kids in games... I can kill whoever else I want. I can befriend and then scam whoever I want, but I can't kick a kid lol

[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What? Do I want to know? Who is running over the kids?

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] HawlSera@lemm.ee 3 points 2 days ago

Remember in The Sims when Burglars stole babies because they were flagged as objects and not player characters?

[–] HK65@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 days ago

They let people EDIT THEIR CHARACTERS in the CHARACTER EDITOR!

[–] Demdaru@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

EXACTLY! That mod is so needed.

I am joking. Honestly, it's fantasy game, if they wanna have that, let them. Now somebody should simply make one choice "no schlong" and the other "no boobs" and be done with it. ^^

[–] stembolts@programming.dev 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

All non-proper objects will henceforth be known as MEEP, embrace the MEEP, extinguish the he/she/him/her/it/they/them/my/mine/their/theirs/our/ours/your/yours/we/yall/yalls.

Watch how well it works.

"""Meep went to the park and meep enjoyed some toast. Afterwards, Alex took meep bread to feed the ducks. Meep enjoyed feeding the ducks. Meep were thinking of getting some ducks of meep meep, but that's a story meep will tell later."""

Clearly superior, solved. Next.

[–] VindictiveJudge@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

When a khajiit calls themself 'this one' is 'this one' technically a pronoun? I'm honestly unsure about the grammar for that.

[–] ICastFist@programming.dev 3 points 2 days ago

Probably? It's not like English makes much sense to begin with.

Somewhat related, jnana yoga (path of knowledge) adepts are encouraged to refer to themselves in the 3rd person (illeism)

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

aww, you forgot my favourite pronoun: one. ie, oldschool meep.

[–] stembolts@programming.dev 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Shit. ~~I~~ Meep knew ~~I'd~~ meep'd miss some.

Meep tried so haaard, and got so far, but in the end, meep didn't even maaaatterr!!
