Tesla, founded by the billionaire CEO Elon Musk, has frequently faced scrutiny over safety issues.

That is incorrect

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 56 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It is legally correct, but factually incorrect.

[–] hemmes@lemmy.world 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Legally how? Was Musk on the original state registration?

[–] stoy@lemmy.zip 54 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

He sued for the title and won.

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 60 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

I’m too petty to be a reporter, every time I’d write: “musk, who retroactively won the right to be considered a founder of Tesla in court, …”

[–] BenReilly97@lemmy.world 27 points 3 weeks ago

It'd also be technically true to say "Elon Musk, CEO and self-proclaimed founder of Tesla..."

"X, formerly known as Twitter"

[–] state_electrician@discuss.tchncs.de 23 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Twitter, now known to some as X, ...

[–] lengau@midwest.social 3 points 3 weeks ago

Twitter, available at x.com, the domain previously used for Musk's now-defunct online bank, ...

[–] dev_null@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 weeks ago

But do you want to distance Musk from the accident by clarifying it's not really his company?

How many legs does a dog have if you call its tail a leg?

[–] gnate@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

1 to 5, inclusive

[–] Samvega@lemmy.blahaj.zone 45 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Is this the company where he paid a sum of money to the real founder or founders to be called the founder?
Or was that another company?

[–] Wrufieotnak 15 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Correct on the first part, I don't know if he did it for other companies as well.

[–] Samvega@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Thanks! So he's the $$$paidtobecalledafounderlikeastupididiot$$$ of this company.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

And it worked. That's the worst part. This article and others call him the founder.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 weeks ago

Yet every time the two are mentioned everyone says he's the founder

Journalism is dead
