What do you mean modern? That was only four years ago. Right?

Just stay away from nvidia on Linux and you are golden.

I'm sorry but this is the kind of condescending bullshit that pushes me away from Linux

I got a 3070TI for half off MSRP for open box in the middle of the crypto bubble, and I'm not buying another GPU until I absolutely have to.

You want more people to embrace Linux? Make it work on startup without jumping through a bunch of hoops, on the hardware we already own.

Your lived experience with Windows is yours, and I'm glad you have a system that works for you. I don't have the time or mental energy to learn, not just a new OS, but also all of the bugs that go with it.

Look, I get it. I'm putting my apprentice in my old work van, and as I'm looking at the old heap I'm remembering all the little quirks it has that I've developed blind spots for. Blind spots they don't have. Quirks that are actually problems. I know there are problems with windows that I ignore because I know how to work around them. I know the workarounds because I've been using Windows since 3.11. I didn't have that experience with Linux, and neither does my wife. A woman who once nearly bricked our computer falling for an Indian call center scam.

When this rig bites the dust, I'll probably build a Linux gaming box and just tell her to get used to the OS. For now, we're using Windows

Also HP is shit and I'd gladly put any HP exec in the hospital if I met them

That would be me.

Tried Ubuntu 15 years ago, but couldn't because Nvidia driver issues, and haven't tried again

Look, dudes, I'm bootstrapping a small business while trying to manage ADHD. I can barely get two hours of admin work done in an eight hour day. I just need things to work. I'd love to walk away from Windows but I don't have the mental bandwidth for that shit

And even if I did, my wife and I share a gaming computer/media center. There's nothing like having her call me in the middle of a workday because my VPN is keeping her from logging into PBS so that she can watch Grantchester. Imagine the headaches if I installed a new OS.

Much like improving my physical fitness, I have the desire, but not the will

Middle-aged Amerifat here. I just got a prescription for Wellbutrin. I'm only four days in, and while i haven't noticed an improvement in focus yet (I'm giving it a full 3 months), I have noticed a decrease in appetite. That alone is worth continuing IMO.

I've never been diagnosed. Medicaid doesn't cover diagnostic psych testing, although it's been amazing in every other way. But I've talked with my primary care provider a few times and he recommended Wellbutrin as an alternative to amphetamines. So here we go

My wife and I are 3 years apart. One of the things she liked when we were dating was that we had the same cultural references from childhood. She had dated men 10 years her senior and didn't like it for that reason.

At 26 I was hanging out with friends and this one girl was a cutie (who was clearly in her mid-twenties) that I was casually flirting with. Then she said "I gotta go, my dad's picking me up" and I'm like "Wait you don't drive?" and she's like "Dad doesn't want me to drive till I'm 18" and. I. Was. Mortified. I felt like a complete pedophile. God damned Latinas.

The point is, dating outside (x/2)+7 is unacceptable, but even over 40 a 10 year age gap is weird

"I took out a grenade. He [his comrade] said, "Let's do it." We hugged each other, threw it on the ground and said some last warm words to each other. The comrade also has a leg wound.

It sounds like they were standing, dropped the grenade at their feet, and were hugging each other. The hug would possibly reduce some damage to center mass, and it sounds like both have injuries to the legs. If the grenade rolled away that would increase survivability. It also sounds like the interviewee took the brunt of the damage.

But don't listen to me, the closest I've come to a grenade is a Chipotle burrito with bad arvo

TBH, I would believe it.

Someone pointed out that he has always had a paranoia about people harming him. For instance, preferring takeout to avoid poisoning. He has played a very dangerous game with very serious players as a property developer, and in the process has made a lot of enemies.

So yeah, one of his greatest fears was realized. What other fears lurk just past the penumbra of the stage lights? What waits in the wings, should he lose the election? If only he could control things a bit more, maybe get Joe back in the race…

At least he can control the remote, and maybe if he watches his assassination attempt again, he can control that too

I had to stop listening to Serial. My mental health is not where it needs to be to hear the realities of life right now, unfortunately.

It's a really good podcast tho

Unless these are actual conscientious objectors. They won't take a life, even if they die as a result. It's a moral stand, and one I respect
