racism on the fediverse can be solved if Black people shitpost more

This indeed makes no sense. Exactly as much sense as the implication that white people posting less solves racism somehow. The article explains that that rule should be "if you're white, post less on topics about race and if you do want to post, think about what you're about to say".

In conclusion: shitposting remains a free for all.

~~It's a secret third option, I suspect. You stated that everyone is equal so (by my interpretation) they meant to show you the difference between theory and practice. As in "if you've ever worked in the service industry you'd have experienced first-hand that often you are not treated as an equal".~~

Everybody is equal, but many assholes don't see it that way.

Edit: nevermind. Just got to the other comments further down and am shown, again, the folly of giving the benefit of the doubt.

Funny how using planners was an integral part to my therapy to cope with adhd. The thing is that I had to be taught and learn through cognitive behavioural therapy how to do that and how to make sure it actually helps me instead of just being another stressor.

All that to say "just use a planner" is terrible advice but not because planners are the enemy of the adhd brained person. Just wanted to say that in case anybody reading this goes into therapy and dismisses the notion because it's become a bit of a meme around here.

As you should. That movie deserves a bigger screen and decent sound setup. Watching it on a phone is criminal.

The fact that I could believe it right up until the moment they just drove off is telling...

You're right there. It's got fuck all to do with politics and everything to do with squeezing as much money out of their run on this planet. Also the reason they won't take certain political positions but easily do so when it might lead to more profits.

You're quite right and your post is absolutely not giving off any level of "the world revolves around me" energy so don't take that comment to heart my friend. I agree with the other comments telling you that there's different kinds of weird. If you proudly identify as "weird" then I'd probably argue that your version of "weird" could probably be described as "non-conforming", "alternative" or "unorthodox". The version of "weird" that is used to attack someone like Trump or his cronies is meant as "creepy" or "unhinged". Basically it's meant to take the wind out of the sails of a bunch of elitists trying to pass themselves off as some kind of man of the people by calling attention to the fact that they are not the strong average Joe they try to present themselves as. No need to feel like you might be mistaken for one, that shoe doesn't fit you and you can probably trust that everyone can see that.

Damn. You broke my longest streak since learning about the Game.

Well, actually, exceptions can be important to lend blanket statements some nuance. Wait, I'm doing it right now, aren't I?

To me, an ignorant person who has only begun to seriously question capitalism after being exposed to lemmy for about a year, this visual analogy seems to imply that capitalism and fascism are thought to be distinct in the eyes of the maker of this meme, though. I think the suggestion of having them both be homelander conveys a different message which seems to be the consensus here: they are different sides of the same coin.

Admittedly, I'm out of my element here but I'm enjoying the exposure.

It's easy to gamble when you are comfortable. It's not so easy for the vast swathes of people trump views as undesirable when their rights and way of life is endangered (non-cis people, non-hetero people and women to name the first that come to mind). This is exactly why it's such a gamble and I agree with you that at this time idealism, while commendable and something I agree with, is in practice a luxury.

It goes both ways though. Kyle should also know his friend wouldn't be happy about potentially losing his career over calls to murder a person for political reasons.

Disclaimer: I fucking hate Trump and wish he was killed years ago so I'm not saying I disagree with what Kyle said, I'm just disagreeing with when he chose to express it because he was there representing tenacious D which extends to jack as well. I'll also add that at this point I worry that killing Trump now would only replace him with someone actually competent to drive the fascism train over the tracks that are already firmly in place, but that's a different discussion.
