There are plenty of AI companies making money, but they're all small time and actually useful to the consumer. DeepL, CharacterAI, Novel AI, any of the ten billion underage auto nudifier apps, AI Girlfriends, etc. They're not moral, but they are making money. But none of them are on the stock market...

which is good, they haven't been poisoned by capitalism yet

Automate the CEO's actually you know what everyone gets one free scam on anyone worth more than ten million up to 10% of what they got and they can't be charged with crime because of it, that way hopefully smarter people end up with money and even things out more

I call it carny trickle down economics

Maybe someone should ask it how to make money.

I hope to never give this hype train of garbage a dime.

All going to plan on the enshittification train.

[–] Stern@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

That won't stop management from desperately trying to put it in something to justify their pay (except of course the management spot where it would actually do well.)

... and the cooler it gets, the less it'll help these giants.

Once Sora was announced, Hollywood was fucked. The suits thought they could fire the writers and crank out billion-dollar projects at breakneck speed. But what this tech does is replace the part that costs one billion dollars. You won't need sets. You won't need actors. You will need a decent writer, to make your vaguely gloopy-looking video file worth watching.
