Because people wouldn't support spending their taxes on it without making them aware of the value. Which is done by educating them.

That's certainly how it comes across when you claim species don't have inherent value. Why would we bother to preserve and protect something that's valueless? You may have meant something else, but judging by the downvotes nobody else is getting your intended meaning either.

Zoos are about money, yes. That's not the point under discussion. I'm taking issue with the line 'species don't have inherent value'. You're basically saying it's ok to drive species extinct as long as its done humanely.

... What. I don't even know where to start with that. Ecological conservation is about money?

Generating awareness and sympathy is probably the biggest factor in keeping many endangered species alive

It's definitely a medical room like the other commentor said. Most likely for somebody with long term limited mobility. Everything they need within 5 minutes of slow moving. I've had relatives who would have lived in rooms like this if they could have.

Most of the points listed here don't matter a hoot to the average user.

Don't let perfect be the enemy of good. Would you rather things stayed as they were?

Infamous implies somebody is famous in a negative way. If anything, Gabe is a shining example that should be upheld.

Despite your edits, I don't see anything in the linked articles that suggests brine cannot be diluted or dissipated.

You can't just "put it back" in the ocean, because then you're increasing the concentration of salinity and toxicity in a localized area and killing everything

Not sure why you're still insisting on this after your edit, since as several commentors have pointed out there's no reason for you to dump it in a single localised area. Toxins and heavy metals can also be extracted, and might even be done so profitably (according to your own links, in fact).

The only point you might have so far is Israel, since they are using a small lake as their source of water, and can't reasonably dilute the brine. However, with seawater desalination none of these issues apply.

Still in Act 1, so no spoilers please.

I found out that if you have the Idol of Silvanus in your inventory and transfer it between characters while in sight of the Strange Ox, the entire herd aggros and attacks you. Cue the speculation!

Edit: Did some testing, apparently all the tieflings react the same way, so it's not some scripted event for the ox :(

I've been hearing for years that artificial gems (diamonds, rubies, moissanite, etc) cost a 'fraction' of the real thing. Is this true? If so, where can I as a consumer buy a handful of this stuff?

Note that I don't want jewellery-grade gems, I realise that would cost a lot simply due to rejects and labour to cut / polish. I just want stuff I can mess around with for hobbies and crafts.
