KEVIN ROBERTS (HERITAGE FOUNDATION PRESIDENT): In spite of all this nonsense from the left, we are going to win. We're in the process of taking this country back. No one in the audience should be despairing.

No one should be discouraged. We ought to be really encouraged by what happened yesterday. And in spite of all of the injustice, which, of course, friends and audience of this show, of our friend Steve know, we are going to prevail.

Number two, to the point of the clips and, of course, your preview of the fact that I am an early American historian and love the Constitution. That Supreme Court ruling yesterday on immunity is vital, and it's vital for a lot of reasons. But I would go to Federalist No. 70.

The Heritage Foundation is a terrorist organization and an existential threat to the United States that must be destroyed.

[–] Rooskie91@discuss.online 77 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I think it's time we recognized the threat to democracy that think tanks and political non profits pose.

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 16 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Robert Evans did a two parter of Behind the Bastards on this exact topic. I think they were titled, How Conservatism Won

Agreed. I wish Biden would announce they are all being arrested and tried for treason. Same for the cons on the "supreme" court.

For context: The Heritage Foundation is responsible for "Project 2025."

-Good liberals with infinite patience and calm rationality turned me from conservative, and kinda shitty guy, to centrist with empathy for others.

-Maga turned me from centrist to reliably liberal (vote for each person down ballot based on scrutiny of their merits instead of affiliation...but heavily blue leaning, unless the Dem was a knob or had a bad plan)

-P2025 turned me into VoteBlueNoMatterWho for every candidate for every election from local to president.

Brother, I don't know how your day is going. I don't know how you feel about your past self. I do know that this comment of yours made me tear up. It's easy for me to vote blue. It was harder for you to decide, and I appreciate your effort. Thank you for being my neighbor.

you guys are going to have to vote like your lives depends on it, coz it probably does. at what point does this become civil war? it feels like you guys are in a death spiral, and the only way out of it is to literally take out the other side. honestly if the rest of the world has to come over there and bash your heads together we'll be properly pissed good luck We're all going to need Trump to lose signed, The World

[–] tiefling@lemmy.blahaj.zone 23 points 4 months ago (4 children)

Please send help. Please. Help us rest of world, you're our only hope.

[–] elbarto777@lemmy.world 21 points 4 months ago

Yeah right.

The only super power in the world "in need of external help."

We dug ourselves into this hellhole, we must get ourselves out of it

[–] ThePyroPython@lemmy.world 19 points 4 months ago (6 children)

Yeah no. No one is going to intervene on your private continent where there's three guns per person. And unless those countries fancy getting friendlier with China, they'll just hold their noses when they deal with Trump. Like they did 2016 to 2020.

You've got the means already; get your guns, beans, and gasoline. And if you care about American democracy, and these chuckle-fucks try to kill it, then you're going to have to fight for it

Let's hope it doesn't come to that, but good luck.

…in the process of taking this country backWARDS.

I despair. Fuck him and all of them.

[–] Corvidae@lemmy.world 31 points 4 months ago (2 children)

At some point in time people are going to be killed.

[–] elbarto777@lemmy.world 13 points 4 months ago (6 children)

Are going to, you say?

Already happened, friend.

Or did you forget what a shitshow Trump's first term was?

People literally died because of him.

Biden should do an official act at the Heritage Foundation.

[–] RedditWanderer@lemmy.world 14 points 4 months ago

"I did that"

[–] Freefall@lemmy.world 12 points 4 months ago

DROOOOOONEEEEE STRIIIIKEEE...there is precedent for Official use of drones against terrorists in the past!

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 9 points 4 months ago

The military swears allegiance to the Constitution, to protect and defend the country from BOTH foreign AND domestic threats. Well the domestic threat is pretty apparent.

[–] cerement@slrpnk.net 70 points 4 months ago (2 children)

at least we know who’s on the side of the redcoats …

[–] finley@lemm.ee 36 points 4 months ago

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 69 points 4 months ago (12 children)

You know if there were ever a group of people that deserved to fully understand what it means to be firebombed it's the fucking heritage foundation.

The federalist society is right there with them.

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 26 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Don’t forget the John Birch society

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 20 points 4 months ago (4 children)

Ironically, people fleeing persecution of the Anglican religion in England and wanting to worship God in their own way (still Puritan though) was basically the number one thing that gave America its start, and therefore formed the strongest core of its identity. You hear more about the "go west young man" type of independence loving peoples, bc it is more recent and there are TV shows depicting it made with less time intervening between its end and their construction - i.e. cowboy westerns. Shows that depict the former are much more rare though, e.g. Salem.

Until recently, the vast majority of Americans considered themselves Christian, at least in theory - like, even if they almost never went to church. And the stories we tell are full of Judeo-Christian themes of fairness and virtue and living "rightly", like King Arthurian myths (as opposed to e.g. cunning and craftiness uplifted in other parts of the world, e.g. Aladdin or most Russian tales).

But the key is: who stands between you and God? Nobody? (=freedom) Or some old, rich, landowning white man? "Nobody" implies a terrible burden of personal responsibility, somewhat akin to running your own Linux server and even having installed Arch btw (at least once sometime, for the experience if not a daily driver), whereas "big daddy corpo-king takes care of you" seems to be the philosophy that rules the current day:-(.

Translation: we gave up our freedom for the sake of convenience. And now we are all too weak pushovers to be able to stand up to what's coming next. Oh well, Rome fell too - it's not like we were going to exist forever.

They're Christofascist Nazis. They need to be dissolved. Either in an alkaline or acidic solution, whichever is cheapest.

[–] Freefall@lemmy.world 13 points 4 months ago

Nationalist Christians...Nat-Cs, if you will.

[–] OpenStars@discuss.online 55 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Please remember to upvote if you want the message to be spread - downvoting just bc you don't like the content will have the opposite effect. This fascist's words and deeds should be seen by all, yes?

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 27 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Upvotes are for visibility.

[–] OpenStars@discuss.online 16 points 4 months ago

Exactly. But when I said that, it was equally up vs. downvotes and that kind of rocky start can kill a post's visibility in Hot. Now there's 10x more up than down so it seems past that hurdle, but even so I figured it would be a good reminder overall.

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 9 points 4 months ago (3 children)

I use my votes for worthwhile content. Not for opinion or matters of taste.

How come the people who say they need automatic weapons to defend themselves from their government at the same time cheer for giving their government absolute power?

god I hate conservatives. These people are pure evil

[–] xenomor@lemmy.world 41 points 4 months ago

I finally understand what ‘make America great again’ means. The America they are trying to return us to is the one where we had a king.

[–] RandomGuy79@lemmy.world 37 points 4 months ago (3 children)

These people are terrorists

[–] frezik@midwest.social 10 points 4 months ago

Non-state actors who use violence or the threat of violence to achieve political aims.

Yup, checks all the boxes.

Subby should have included the whole quote that Media Matters truncated.

"We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be."

Translation, let us turn this country into the Republic of Gilead or we will kill you.

[–] todd_bonzalez@lemm.ee 19 points 4 months ago

This is the same logic Nazis used. The narrative was that Jews forced their hand by refusing to comply with their demands.

Make no mistake, this is a promise of bloodshed. They just want to sound like they want peace and that they'll have to kill to get it.

Kill them first.

[–] Ultraviolet@lemmy.world 19 points 4 months ago

So they're openly admitting to a coup attempt.

[–] MaxPow3r11@lemmy.world 18 points 4 months ago

There are a ton of fucking fascists in this country.

[–] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 17 points 4 months ago (1 children)

An Unelected Organization run by Billionaires in the shadows applauding a Republican Court's ruling is the EXACT PROOF that DEMOCRATS are the DEEP STATE!

Look at his words a little deeper, and you'll pick up the thinly veiled message. He's not saying anything that a rapist has not said to a victim before, during, and after the act. What he said was "as bloodless as the left will allow".Said another way, "Don't resist our brazen coup attempt and you will not be harmed. Everything is going to be okay. Don't resist, don't struggle, don't fight. Just let it happen. You want this, I can tell."
