The rules were that you guys weren’t going to fact check

The true crime was the lie

Nope. The picture shows the bag contained other illegal items, therefore it wasn't full of drugs.

Indeed, the other items were in the car, along with the bag.

When officers... searched the car and discovered cash, a loaded revolver, scales — and a bag that had “Definitely not a bag full of drugs” printed on it, with drugs inside...

There were more molecules of air than the total number of drugs.

I think the only deception in this case was self-inflicted.

Generally I would agree. but after reading the first couple paragraphs, I think I gotta back the police up on this one.

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

stealing a car is bad, but the majority of the process is insurance companies anyway, the police are a minor part of the bureaucratic process.

I'm not a big fan of the fentanyl either

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I dont really care all that much either way for people who want to do drugs. They should be legalized, licensed and produced safely, with addict treatment going to medical and mental health services, not the police.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 month ago

The main concern with fentanyl is that people who want to do drugs probably don't want to do fentanyl; they're probably seeking heroin, and getting fentanyl that they've been lied to about.

But the solution to that isn't to continue the failed policy of prohibition, it's legalization and regulation, so fuck the dealers who lie about what they're selling, but also yes, fuck the police.

The addicts are not going to submit themselves to the medical services voluntarily.

Nobody asking if the bag belonged to Baggenstos? Nominative determinism win?
