What are you talking about? I heard that Tim Walz microwaves his water when he makes tea rather than using a tea kettle. What kind of monster does that?

[–] originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com 13 points 3 months ago (1 children)

dude i heard that if he gets you a birthday cake it never has the correct number of candles on it

[–] cybervseas@lemmy.world 14 points 3 months ago

When you call him out on it he says that there's one extra "for good luck.". Yeah, right!

See - he'd be a disaster for international diplomacy, because this is guaranteed to make Englishmen tut or even shake their heads slightly.

My Australian friend thought I was a complete barbarian for heating water for tea on the stove in a pot

[–] davidagain@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That at least has the weight of tradition behind it.

Wait, you do mean a stove kettle, don't you? You don't mean just a normal vegetables pot? You can't mean that, surely?

[–] Zeppo@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I do mean just a saucepan with some water in it. I ended up getting an electric kettle...

[–] davidagain@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Congratulations: civilisation has arrived in your home. We'll talk no more of what happened before.

I heard he reuses his hotdog boiling water for his tea.

This is a red line that I will not cross

The world would be a very dull place if no-one can be expected to pick up on context clues. This community's description doesn't need changing, any more than The Onion's by-line needs changing from "America's Finest News Source" - it's part of the fun that you're supposed to realise that it's not.

If you have a tendency to take things very literally, it's kind of on you to realise that about yourself, and spend a bit more time investigating, or confirming things with other people in your life, or asking in communities for other people who tend to be a bit literal (for whatever reason), or even something like 'nostupidquestions'. But not here - you're interrupting play because you haven't grasped the rules.

What if Tim Walz wore a tan suit as Vice President? Then what would we do?!

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 21 points 3 months ago

The community SAYS it's for the TRUTH about Tim Walz, but I've seen nothing here but SATIRE! What a bunch of liars!

[–] Voyajer@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago

Life must be frustrating if you can't detect obvious satire.

[–] NineMileTower@lemmy.world 8 points 3 months ago

I think it's clear that this is a satirical community.

I know you’re getting a lot of blow back, but I think you’re not wrong. yeah I really love this /c and think its a laugh but just remember when r/the_donald started out as satire and it was funny too but then it got taken over by nutters who didn’t see the satire, and I’d hate to see that here too.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 13 points 3 months ago (1 children)

The moderators in charge of The Donald were right-wing cretins from the start, though. The only thing that was satirical was the level of support given.

Like I said I get a real laugh out of this /c and I hope it keeps going especially if they win and we get 8 years of the truth about Tim. It some funny shit talking. But I do worry about Poe’s Law and don’t think we shouldn’t dog pile on someone who wants to make sure we’re all just playing. OP’s heart was probably in the right place and I’m trying to be curious and not judgement.

[–] NineMileTower@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I've removed posts that are not satirical. I'll delete it if it gets stupid. It's not that serious.

Thanks Man it’s hard work but I appreciate it.

Seriously every time this /c pops up in all I get a chuckle. And really that’s the point in lemmy right?
