It's a good thing his fenced property was protected by Secret Service agents. Gun control for me but not for thee.

On the one hand, I don't believe in political violence. On the other hand, the morality of assassinating Trump is an awful lot like asking oneself, "Would it be morally acceptable to go back in time and assassinate Hitler?"

And anyway, we don't know yet that this is political violence. The last guy who tried to kill him was a Republican who was probably just trying to make a name for himself while committing suicide by cop.

From early reports I’ve seen it sounds like this is similar. He was a big fan of Nikki Haley and Vivek Ramaswamy (that didn’t stop the Post from trying to claim he was a lefty though).

I was under the impression the first guy was out for pedo’s after the Epstein files came out with trumps name all over them.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 8 points 1 month ago

Sounds like I will have to catch myself up on the matter.

[–] tyrant@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Have we ruled out that these would be assassin's are not from the future?

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This will clearly need some investigation.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago

In the future, of course. That's not where they're expecting us to look!

quick, distract everyone from the Vance stuff

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 32 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I wonder if it’s a republican again?

[–] MrTomS@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

According to the NC voter rolls he was registered unaffiliated. Voted in the Democratic primary in March. Voted in The general election in 2008 & 12 but not in 2016 or 2020. Garden variety nut bar

If he didn't vote for Trump in 2016 then why did he say he was to partly to blame for electing Trump?

"In a section of the book focused on Iran, the author said he “must take part of the blame” for electing a “brainless” president, in an apparent reference to Trump. “You are free to assassinate Trump as well as me for that error in judgment and the dismantling of the deal,” the book declares."

All I can say is Ryan Wesley Routh of Guilford County NC born 1966 did not vote in NC in 2016 or 2020. https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup Maybe he voted in another state or just as likely is just a nut bar that says things that don't match reality.

More fuel for the hate fire incoming.

I’m not advocating for anything but I want to point out that the threat of gun violence is a near daily occurrence for most Americans. So I’m not shedding any tears for Trump.

[–] Vipsu@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Well JD Vance did say gun violence is just "Fact of Life” that we just “Have to Get Over” so surely the republicans understand this.

[–] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.world 24 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I had heard there were shots, but this is the first I heard that it was an assassination attempt.

I wonder if it will make him stop playing golf.

[–] Death_Equity@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I am pretty sure he would rather die than give up golfing. He played golf 307 days of his 1461 days in office, 3x what Obama did.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (2 children)

He lit up when this portion of the first debate against Biden came up. Comparing golf scores. Getting into the minutiae of it. Very important for us to know.

[–] Plavatos@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

I couldn't stomach watching that first debate, so I wasn't sure if you were messing around.

You were not: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUtVNEl9aJE

It is almost like words have consequences.

This is why golfers should be able to carry assault rifles at golf courses and Trump rallies: they too should have a fighting chance against assassins.

I predicted that as more Trump supporters realized they've been duped and grifted that they would be mightily upset.

[–] Alsephina@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 month ago

Lol this guy is a NATOid apparently, and tried to illegally recruit Afghan soldiers to fight for Ukraine. This is hilarious.

[–] Darukhnarn 9 points 1 month ago

It really shouldn’t be so hard to hit a target this big. Are they failing on purpose?
