I remember maybe a year or so ago, overhearing some of my coworkers who seemed to genuinely believe that schools were installing litter boxes for alleged students that identify as cats.

These idiots will believe absolutely anything, and it doesn't need to be even remotely anchored to reality.

[–] AlternatePersonMan@lemmy.world 80 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yep. I just heard about the liberal hell scape that is California and it's EV's that are destroying their highway system. Now California is charging 30 cents a mile in taxes to compensate for fuel tax losses. A non-idiot might take a few seconds to realize that's the equivalent of $9 per gallon in taxes.

Another idiot complained about green energy destroying the country because "what do we do when the sun goes down or the wind stops?! Blackouts! We need coal energy!"

These people are dumb as rocks.

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 month ago

Also why fucking coal? Its shitty to mine, shitty to burn, and shit for efficiency. At least with natural gas and oil it doesnt blacken out the skies and give those mining it black lung.

Also coal burning releases a tonne of radiation that is actually dangerous to humans.

They don't want to know that the litter containers are being strategically located to soak up blood from mass shootings

These idiots will believe absolutely anything, and it doesn't need to be even remotely anchored to reality.

That's not quite true. They believe it because it appeals to their already preconceived prejudices. In the case of litter boxes, it was their incorrect understanding of how teachers were asking for pronouns (wokeness).

For the gender reassignment surgery, it's their incorrect understanding of how liberal schools are indoctrinating children about their genitals.

It's effective because it reaches into their lizard brain about some latent fear and makes them believe something even worse is happening.

Haitians are immigrating here, is true. The racism is that they are "eating" our resources. But they aren't eating our pets.

It "feels" true because other things they believe about it are true to them.

conservatives fear the entire idea of transgenderism, because they hate and fear the entire idea of women, and they can not, in their myopic little mind, understand why a man would want to willingly "debase" himself by "pretending" to be a woman. Thats why they think its so perverse and deranged. Because thats how much they hate women.

cause you notice pretty much ALL their antitrans rhetoric circles around the transwomen and penises.

In the years of listening to this vomitous verbal diatribe, I have not heard one single comment about transmen.

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 month ago

Oh I have. Their rhetoric might skew toward trans women but they definitely hate trans men as well.

It's not that they hate women. I mean they do. But conservatives, specifically christian conservatives, are very key on gender roles. So when anyone goes outside of their gender, they view it as an afront to God because "He DoEsN't MaKe MiStAkEs!"

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

My former boss told me that. I asked him if he'd ever been to highschool, because nobody would shit in a litterbox if people knew about it, and no school would be stupid enough to engage in such a ridiculous idea.

[–] Fondots@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I don't know. I'm pretty sure every high school had at least one student who would shit in a litter box just because and then brag about it

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

There was a girl that shit on a plate and placed it in a hallway where there were cameras and bragged about it as a senior prank.

She was suspended until the end of the school year, was not allowed to walk with her class, and banned from the senior party.

[–] grue@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

School administrators have no chill these days. \s

[–] peopleproblems@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

That wasn't cool to say "these days" and for me to realize this was 15 fucking years ago

[–] seaQueue@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

The stories justify the hate they already have for the associated communities, they're just the justification for stepping up aggression toward whichever group they feel like persecuting this season

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Actually some schools were installing sandboxes because in the event of a school shooting lock-down in a cloak-room closet, kids had to have some place go to the bathroom. They probably told the kids it was for furries so as not to traumatize them - morons ran with the story because they lacked any brains.

[–] Oxymoron@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Yeah I mean I dunno if it’s helpful to call them idiots. Cos ideally a really small number of these people might be capable of changing their opinions. I mean I don’t buy that anyone can be undecided at the moment, or for quite a long time really. I think the votes needed can either come from Trump supporters or from people who are lazy voting wise. Who would back Harris if they could vote from home, but just might not get their arse down to the polling station on the day.

Well I suppose there is maybe some republicans who just hate the Democrats and would never vote for them under normal scenarios, but are uncomfortable as fuck with Trump.

Meh. Maybe we can do without the Trumpers if we are lucky lol. I mean we might not have a choice in the matter. I suppose as much as we don’t want to alienate them by calling them idiots, they are in reality idiots if they’re literally believing stuff like the litter box examples and even if we don’t call them idiots, the reality is they’re probably too idiotic to be turned, so it likely won’t make a difference anyway.

Who knows…

[–] inb4_FoundTheVegan@lemmy.world 72 points 1 month ago (2 children)

The reality is that trans people wait YEARS on a list trying to get surgery. And that's after receiving referrals from two separate psychiatrists. The fact that conservatives think that this happens overnight behind parents backs is a deluded cruel joke.

[–] CitizenKong@lemmy.world 29 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Jews also never ate babies, fascism doesn't care about facts.

[–] XTL@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 month ago

Well, not the whole baby. Just a small taste to go with the mutilation.

[–] dodgy_bagel@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 1 month ago

3 referrals. 2 from psych, 1 from medical to confirm they have been receiving long-term hormone replacement therapy.

For a nose job. The thing that cis folks don't need ANY sign-off for.

[–] dugmeup@lemmy.world 26 points 1 month ago

The thing with dictators/absolute rulers is that they cannot be wrong. Even when they are wildly wrong.

When you go back and look at how the world bent over backwards to make itself align with whatever the top said, you would think the world mad. It's only a recent thing that we the people aren't bound to that madness.

Slavery, murder, rape, killing, genocide, public execution, prisoners killed by wild animals, etc etc the list goes on.

People who are in power can be supremely depraved.

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago

Because he's a consummate liar talking to entirely credulous people who gladly believe whatever moronic diarrhea that dribbles out of his lie hole, and attacks minorities because they're relatively powerless and his base wants excuses to hate those people too.

[–] WhyFlip@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

Because he's a liar, duh.

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Trump only believes in ratings.

He is making stuff up that people would watch on a True Detective season because it gives Harris less bandwidth to work with in her campaign.

That is why. Trump does not care if Trump believes in it. Trump sees this merely as a ratings game.

[–] gcheliotis@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I don’t know if this is true, but it feels spot on.

because he doesn't know it's a lie and/or because he knows the bottom-feeders in his cult will believe as fact

[–] Oxymoron@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Because he’s a shart fella.
