As is tradition. A lot of the more "moderates" in Germany thought they could easily control Hitler. Idiots failing to grasp weaponized stupidity in the hands of other idiots.

When will it happen? No idea. But it will happen. Totalitarians always do. History is cyclical.

I'm pretty sure it's more sinister than that. He's an authoritarian, and Trump values loyalty more than anything. A rival authoritarian is a bad idea. Keep your friends close, your enemies closer. Trump needs people to throw under the bus.

History shows that Vance is likely one of those people. Vance would be pretty stupid to not fall in line, but when it comes down to it, it won't matter. He's already offended Trump.

Well, I, for one, appreciate that he's wearing clothes every time I've seen his picture.

I am, just saying a Luger is a better outcome than slowing dying after your teeth have been shattered and your skull cracked

Counterpoint: if you are staring down the barrel of a Luger, I would suggest NOT doing what they tell you to do.

The Nazis had a habit of forcing someone at gunpoint to do something worse than getting shot. Like telling you to bite the curb, or kill your friend, then they shoot you.

I mean, to be fair, the Nazis killed a lot of Nazis. They really just like killing people. Kind of what they were known for, and probably what they will keep doing.

It's a rather unhealthy mindset these creatures have.

I don't have the sources, but if I remember right, almost all recent presidents have had assassination attempts.

This is the only one that's gotten as close as Reagan's

Bonjour ! Je suis actuellement en train d'apprendre le Français. Suis-je invité ?

And that's a real freaking stretch for what I know. And apparently I can't pronounce most of it correctly

Man. Don't, just don't. Don't cheat, and don't get cheat on. Not worth that pain. Get into a couples therapist, and let them guide you in the process of discovering if you can make it work or not. Spoiler: doesn't often work.

If you have kids, don't stay just for the kids. Believe it or not, both of you deserve happiness, and your kids won't ever really be happy until you have what you need to do that.

God protected him?

Know who else claimed that? Hitler. And most who asserted the divine right of kings.

But we all know God didn't step in to prevent the deaths of Jews, mentally disabled (and otherwise institutionalized), political opponents, former political party members who threatened power, LGBTQ+, Rowandans, Armenians, Palestinians, Uyghurs, etc.

That's why I say if there is super natural intervention, it ain't God. It's the devil himself.
