Fediverse vs Disinformation

395 readers
162 users here now

Pointing out, debunking, and spreading awareness about state- and company-sponsored astroturfing on Lemmy and elsewhere. This includes social media manipulation, propaganda, and disinformation campaigns, among others.

Propaganda and disinformation are a big problem on the internet, and the Fediverse is no exception.

What's the difference between misinformation and disinformation? The inadvertent spread of false information is misinformation. Disinformation is the intentional spread of falsehoods.

By equipping yourself with knowledge of current disinformation campaigns by state actors, corporations and their cheerleaders, you will be better able to identify, report and (hopefully) remove content matching known disinformation campaigns.

republican misinformation is just desperation.

its so weird how obsessed repubs are with attacking people for things they just made up.

republicans, why do you support so much misinformation? do you enjoy being lied to? is it some sort of sub/dom fetish you all have with your dear leader?

It's because they are unable to comprehend what humility looks like.

Heh, I thought you said "humanity" until I reread it, works either way, or that's just what my brain wanted to see.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 2 points 2 months ago

Humility is a subset of humanity.

Considering how locked in most conservatives are to the likes of Fox News and right wing talk radio, I’d say yes, they do in fact enjoy being lied to.

I highly doubt they care about people being intoxicated, judging by who they put on the Supreme Court.

At first I was like "Of course she didn't stand up. Who stands up and applauds for their own standing ovation." But then I realized Trump. Trump stands for his own standing ovation. And he probably started it himself too.

Fox 'Entertainment' and the Republican distraction forces have got nothing on this electric DNC and they know it.
