Look at the time. Whatever time it is of whatever day that you read this, Putin could stop this. Ukraine doesn't want to take over Russia! They want security. They want their country back. Putin could end this war at any moment, as soon as they abandon their illegal international invasion of Ukraine...

Things might still end badly for Ukraine but they will not end up selling themselves cheap. Even if Russia were able to gain full control over Ukraine, the cost of keeping the control is way too high compared to what Russia can afford.
Putin tried to make history but it'll be Zelensky and the Ukrainian people who will be celebrated when this is all done. Putin is looking likely to be the face of the fall of the second Soviet Union (members: 1)

Honestly, the North Korean artillery shells Russia has received prematurely wear out their barrels and have a higher chance of blowing up in those barrels. Given that Russian tank and artillery barrels are notoriously bad quality, the artillery men are probably at a higher risk of dying than their targets.
