"My loyalty belongs to the highest bidder."
-- Trump (paraphrased)

[–] PorradaVFR@lemmy.world 42 points 1 month ago (1 children)

*conditional loyalty which may be withdrawn arbitrarily at any time as it suits / benefits me alone. Reciprocity is not guaranteed….or offered…or considered.

[–] mkwt@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

But 45 million is not a super high bid, either.

[–] psmgx@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Basically, yeah. Sounds like he was waiting for a higher bid from the O&G industry, and didn't get one. Meanwhile Elon's check cleared...

He also endorsed permanently deleting this image off the internet forever

Okay, I did an image search. Sometimes I'll take a dive down a rabbit hole like this and find something interesting. This time, I kind of feel like I found buried treasure.

The picture comes from a Forbes article in 2012 about Musk dressing up as the Marquis de Sade for a party (this was news?). That wasn't too interesting but the pic was also used on Soundcloud. I guess Elon tried his hand at EDM a few years ago. I found this discography where I got a chuckle from a review that someone posted there:

Pioneering engineer, inspired businessman, visionary investor, Neo-Nazi sympathizer, Putin sockpuppet, Dom Lucre apologist, and undisputed champion of non-ElonJet free speech!

A living legend, tirelessly fighting the good fight against the lower and middle classes, DEI, and his own reputation, on this planet and beyond!!

There is also a link there to Soundcloud. He put out are two songs. Don't Doubt ur Vibe and RIP Harambe. No, I did not, and will not listen to them. It may be essentially undetectable, but I do have some self respect. There is, however, a link to a four year old Guardian article, Elon Musk's new EDM single reviewed – 'Bringing erectile dysfunction to the masses!' about the Don't Doubt ur Vibe track. It starts off with this opening...

The Tesla and SpaceX CEO has dropped Don’t Doubt Ur Vibe on Soundcloud – a wannabe dancefloor banger that somehow manages to doubt its own vibe

and finishes with this awesome closing paragraph.

Ironically, what Don’t Doubt Ur Vibe really sounds like isn’t a primetime dancefloor banger, but the kind of atmospheric, inoffensive music that might play in the background at the launch of a new car. Still, at least it comes with an unexpected bonus: if you leave Soundcloud running after the track ends, the app, for reasons that aren’t entirely clear (algorithms? Mischievous intent?) immediately moves from the nascent oeuvre of Elon Musk to the work of a rapper called almndjoy, automatically playing his track Erectile Dysfunction, with its diverting opening line “I’m sorry my dick doesn’t work”. Languishing unnoticed on Soundcloud for a year, it’s seen a vast upsurge in plays since Musk’s track made its debut, replete with a series of comments indicating that “Elon brought me here”. Perhaps that will be Elon Musk’s most lasting musical legacy: he’s brought Erectile Dysfunction to the masses.

/edit to clarify some stuff

This sounds like it could be made into an rick and Morty episode...

[–] figaro@lemdro.id 1 points 1 month ago

Incredible work. This is indeed buried treasure.

[–] Cadeillac@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

I don't actually know. My brain is telling me Liberal Arts College but I honestly have no clue

“weird felon only supports things he is paid to support”

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 47 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It amazes me how he just says how shallow his decisions are and his supporters love it.

[–] arin@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Must be ez having braindead supporters

[–] TimeSquirrel@kbin.melroy.org 42 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Hear that, Walmart, Amazon, Google, Apple, GM, Exxon, Nestle, etc, etc, etc? US is now yours if this fucknut gets in. You won the Monopoly game. You're done.

[–] Num10ck@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago

thats why the 1% want him. which is why we shouldn't. everything they want to push through is at our expense. we can't afford it, and neither can the planet.

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 30 points 1 month ago (1 children)

God damn. I hate everyone in this photo with a fucking passion. Uggggh. 🤢

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Isn't Bannon supposed to be in jail right now?

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Sure it's an older picture from Trump's time in office.

[–] LEDZeppelin@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

Just like founding fathers envisioned! “Conservative” justices at SCOTUS must be so proud for that Citizens United ruling

[–] Thunderdonk4444@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago

Elon musk is a piece of shit, but I guess if nothing else, if him becoming a right wing idol means conservatives get on board with electric cars that’s a nice silver lining lol

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Just wait until Big Oil starts offereing him more than Elon, and EVs will soon be on he butchers block again.

[–] GladiusB@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

But can they? Elon may be bigger? I'm not sure. Isn't he the second richest guy in the world? Or the richest?

[–] hasnt_seen_goonies@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

He's one guy compared to multiple companies? I think I would bet on the multiple companies.

[–] shiroininja@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

[–] Daxtron2@startrek.website 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Doesn't his base hate EVs though or are they suddenly pro EV but still don't think climate change is real.

[–] Bonesince1997@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

They probably can't afford them

[–] Mongostein@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 month ago

So I guess a Trump presidency is a Musk presidency then?

[–] bazus1@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If I could hypnotize drumph, I’d implant the suggestion eliminating the word “very” from his vocabulary. Then just sit back and watch as he can no longer form sentences.

[–] mriguy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

He can’t actually form sentences now… this will just make his aimless rambling cut off sooner. Which is still a good thing.
