What stops the students from renouncing the protests (under duress) and then just getting back into them once they have degrees?
Although, I'd like to think that any student who defies NYU's demands will fare much better in the long run than a university that kowtows to facists
They can just revoke their degrees... Sounds insane, but it happened already to other protesters in the US.
Wow, I had not heard about this but it certainly delegitimizes other degrees that weren’t revoked.
I’d just put that shit on my resume and state that it’s revoked and why. Whatever kind of employer would look down on that is not someone they will want to work for anyway.
Put it on your resume and don't say anything.
I've not heard of too many employers really going through the effort to verify most degrees, although that likely changes the higher up the academic tree you get. I only have a bachelors and I've never had it actually verified.
For the most part that is true, but this is law school, and I'm pretty sure you need the degree to practice law.
Nah, I watched the documentary Suits, it totally works!
Have to go to prison first, though...
What stops the students from renouncing the protests (under duress) and then just getting back into them once they have degrees?
Probably the fact that if the NYU staffers pushing this are any smart, they'll withhold the degrees for a few weeks (maybe even months) after the exam or until the protests die down anyway. Sure, they're bound to do something incredibly stupid right after, but they've got what they've got.
What about renouncing them officially but then attending protests a few blocks down while wearing masks?
Very dark times in US
