Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Please don't post about US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

I've been using "connect for lemmy" and i love it! Fully stopped using reddit on mobile because this app is so good!
I recommend Boost, even thought it has some proprietary stuff and ads. I used it on Reddit so it was a smooth transition.
I use Boost for Lemmy
I don't use apps. I like the web interface (except for the fact that it doesn't work on my PC.....can't figure out why). So I can't help you there, BUT, seeing as you're new this whole thing, and seeing as it can it be overwhelming, might I suggest you take a gander at !newtolemmy@lemmy.ca when you get a chance?
A couple of things you'll take note of that are a bit different than over at reddit. First off, we don't masturbate into shoeboxs for years on end, and then allow the semen to accumulate, thus producing disgusting horrific clumps that need radioactive gloves to dispose of.
We don't do the whole "What's in the safe?" posts.
We're missing a lot of the niche communities, and we're missing the audience to house them.
And finally, everybody has already agree'd, I am the ultimate supreme master, and everybody has to give me all their money at all times. So, be prepared to cough it up, newbie.
Fun fact, only one of my previous statements is an outright lie! Can you spot the imposter?

Speak for yourself ☢️☢️📥💦 🍆😂
We don't do the whole "What's in the safe?" posts.
Because Lemmy is open-source, the contents of the safe are available to the public, so we don't need such posts

Tap to instantly receive all my money
Oof, tough break there
I like the web interface (except for the fact that it doesn't work on my PC.....can't figure out why).
Do you happen to be running an outdated system, by chance? I've got a really old Chromebook that's past its lifecycle and doesn't get updates anymore, and it has problems displaying most Lemmy instances properly as a result.
It's a Windows 7, that I haven't updated in years. The browser is probably older than most people here would be comfortable with. Sometimes websites will say things like "You need to update your browser", but then the browser works just fine on their site.
Lemmy is the only one that legitimately doesn't work right. It just has a spinny circle that never loads. Just spins forever.
Yup, that's probably the issue then. My Chromebook is running a version of Chrome from like 4 years ago, so most Lemmy instances have broken formatting that stops loading anything beyond a broken header.
It's kinda weird, because Lemmy is generally a pretty low-tech platform, so I'm not sure what about the web UI causes problems with older browsers. Not my area of expertise, so I'm afraid I don't have much in terms of a solution, lol.
I hope the masturbation part is the lie
GUYS!!! EVERYBODY MASTURBATE INTO SOME SHOEBOXES!!! THIS GUY'S GONNA GIVE ME MONEY!!!
Real talk though, prepare for a lot of trans-women teaching you how to use Linux while wearing some pretty neat socks. And if you browse too long you always end up at pages of furry porn.
I'm sorry for not answering OP's question but I have a similar question. Is there an app that has been mentioned here support mbin (kbin folk)?
Friendly Social Browser is decent but I would recommend an actual app for it
You take it wrong, MF'ER!
Jerboa is the official app. It is minimalistic and just works, but lacks features.
Thunder for me is a good alternative.
They both are Material You if you care.
I used memmy.
