I'm German, but I have to hand it to them: The Dutch have by far the best insults of any language.

When the Dutch start cussing:

Kinda unfortunate because if Americans understood the Hitler speeches they'd know he's a whiney bitch who sounds just as stupid as Trump with just as much of a victim complex.

It took me a while to realize that my mom (Korean, from Busan area) was on the phone having a conversation and not a heated argument. Literally sounded like screaming at times.

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 1 points 28 minutes ago* (last edited 28 minutes ago)

Korean either sounds whiny or argumentative

East Asian languages in general (excluding Japanese). My first thought seeing this meme was "this MF never heard Cantonese before?"

English insults are like "How's your day, love?" and the other lad is positively miffed on account of how you pronounced it.

[–] Onionguy@lemm.ee 7 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Idk man "May you get fucked by a swordfisch" (spanish insult) is pretty hard in my book x)

¡Que te folle un pez espada!

[–] paequ2@lemmy.today 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

TIL https://crossidiomas.com/que-te-folle-un-pez/

This idiom may seem vulgar and offensive at first glance, but it has a deeper meaning that reflects the culture and mentality of the Spanish people.

[–] Onionguy@lemm.ee 2 points 3 hours ago

That's a cool site

[–] lugal@sopuli.xyz 3 points 5 hours ago

Ich, wie gesagt, nicht, aber manche Leute essen alles mit Zwiebeln. Bis zu einem gewissen Punkt geh ich da mit, aber bei Pommes und Obstsalat nicht

Russian sounds super soft. Childish, almost.

[–] AkatsukiLevi@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

i dont like russian government but the russian language actually sounds cool for me

[–] oppy1984@lemm.ee 3 points 3 hours ago

I used to drive for a living and all night long I would listen to podcasts and audiobooks. I really enjoy spy, military, and sci-fi. So I've listened to a ton of spy and military books with Russian characters. Eventually I started trying to impersonate different voices and got really good at the Russian and Scottish voices.

My Scot doesn't really fool anyone, but I've got a few people now with the Russian voice. It also helps that the Russian accent most people know if the one American actors use in TV and film. I'm sure anyone who knew what a real Russian accent sounded like would know instantly.

Ya tozhe tak dumayu

[–] RobotFK@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

It means 'I think too' and is with the Latin alphabet roughly: Ya tosche tak dumaio

[–] banghida@lemm.ee 3 points 7 hours ago

Dumaio - to think? Curious. We have an archaic expression 'dumati' around here. Same meaning.

In Poland we have this old joke, where the reveal is that German language is barbed wire.

Don't remember the joke though ;)

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 8 points 8 hours ago

See that? You don't. Its not night. You insult in the shadow of an old drunk Mexican.
