I reject this implicit categorization of robots as "not pretty". They can be pretty and cool.

Me when I was little: “mom, why are those guys holding hands?”

Mom: “well you know how you like girls? Some boys like boys. Some girls like girls.”

Me: “oh, cool. Mom, why are the street signs here blue but green in the other town?”

I bring up this exchange whenever people say stuff like “but what will the kids think? It will break their brains!”

Now, my mom teaching that to me DID cause some damage, because she forgot to add: “but you go to catholic school, so don’t repeat that or else you’ll get in trouble AND the other kids will bully you and the teachers won’t stop them”. Thankssss mom.

I remember being 10, hearing someone say the word "condom" for the first time (I was sheltered and raised in the wilderness for the first 20 years of my life and not allowed to go to school) and I was demanding to know what the word meant and my family just literally ignored me until I gave up asking.

They never gave me the talk, never talked about relationships, didn't even ask me if I had questions, just completely ignored it as an issue.

Since all the reading material and television shows were curated and we weren't allowed to watch anything remotely controversial, I have no idea how they expected me to learn the facts about one of the most important factors in our lives, sex and relationships.

I did eventually manage to sneak enough knowledge through occasional visits to bookstores and magazine racks that I was eventually able to piece it together. But there was so, so much else I was never equipped for. You would think that I would have grown up to a disastrous life and... you would be right.

In Europe, green signs declare an Autobahn/Highway. (Or that the Autobahn leads to this destination, if there is a place on the signs)

I find the Idea of a town where everything is just an Autovahn very amusing.

I love the phrase "the turd doesn't fall far from the asshole".

That's just false though...I had one of my kids squirt poop (imagine the most disgusting water gun ever made) at me literally several feet when they were a baby. Absolutely horrifying experience and subsequent cleanup.

I bet they giggled as you were bukkake'd with shit.

I truly hope this is true: Brand new sentence.

... someone just awakened a fetish and I hope I never cross paths with them.

Well, that's a new spin on today's lucky 10000

An example of great parenting. Kid asks question, answer question honestly and briefly. No need for a lecture.

I used to be like a diet version of Mike. Sometimes the turd becomes a progressive transfem communist.

Note, there are two devils in the last pic, a big one and a small one. I know that feeling too well.

[–] Sergio@slrpnk.net 9 points 1 day ago

Overton window for devils.

I don't understand the last panel, are they supposed to be representing commenters?

[–] lime@feddit.nu 15 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

is the metaphor of the little devil on your shoulder falling out of fashion? not aimed at you personally, your comment just made me wonder if it's starting to become less known in general.

[–] TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I thought that was a possibility but they both look like devils?

Also I don't think the metaphor is falling out of fashion, less common than it used to be, but I think everyone still knows it.

[–] 5too@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They are both devils - his wife (the author) has a shoulder angel and shoulder devil, along with an occasional shoulder princess, shoulder cave woman, and a few others that have appeared once or twice. Obby here gets a relatively subtle devil and an overt satyr-shaped devil.

ohh I see. Thank you

I don't think this comic holds true. Mike is 6. Who knows where he heard these things. Could have been tv. Could have been at school. Could have been other kids his age.

The point is, his name is Mike. Which if you've ever met a Mike, you know that all Mikes are assholes by default.

[–] dastechniker@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Is it Mike specific or all Michaels? Michael Vsauce seems nice enough

Good to know, thank you 🫡
