I... I feel like this is basically something that would happen in some kind of prequel to V for Vendetta, like the 'expanded universe' of archived clips, stored in Stephen Fry's secret art dungeon.

... fucking hell.

Stephen Fry has a secret art dungeon?

Unless I am mistaken, in the movie Stephen Fry plays a character who was ... some kind of former media person, or someone who used to be in the good graces of the high ups of the ruling party, but basically resigned out of disgust... though he tried to hide the disgust part.

Also Fry's character reveals himself to be a closeted homosexual.

He lives in some kind of very fancy home, full of historical literature and artworks, many , many of which are considered heretical now.

He cooperates with V by housing Natalie Portman's character... which eventually leads to his death when the Party finds out.

... and I've looked up some scenes on YT at it seems my recollection is broadly correct, except that I forgot that Fry actually aired a show which makes an extreme mockery of the big bad fascist prime minister... and before this, it was more like he was begrudgingly tolerated by the regime, often being forced to censor and rewrite his show

Ah gotcha, I haven't seen that movie in a hot minute. I figured if anyone had a secret art dungeon, it may well be Stephen Fry.
