Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

... she still hasn't disavowed the non-consensual abuse of her likeness in fake trump endorsements, has she? i was actively watching and listening to see a response from her and i haven't heard anything. did i miss it somehow?

I believe she stated she is not going to make a response until after her tour finishes, to protect her fans.

Edit: Internet says the tour is set to conclude on December 8, 2024, in Vancouver (after the election).

[–] Draegur@lemm.ee 30 points 2 months ago (1 children)

ah ok that makes sense

desperately hoping deep down that she's charging the death star laser and as soon as the tour is over she fucking vaporizes the republican party for their hubris -_-

[–] Mister_Feeny@fedia.io 27 points 2 months ago

A quick google says the tour doesn't end till December, so after the election anyway, unfortunately.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 24 points 2 months ago (3 children)

That seems ridiculous to me. She's already being painted in a way that's political. By not responding when she so clearly has the agency to, she's simply refusing to disagree. That's going to be seen as agreement by many.

I think this shows her true colors. She can claim fan safety all she wants but if she has more concern for "fans" than she does the genuine safety for the future of our country, especially outright saying she won't make a statement until after the tour which isn't until after the election, it truly $how$ where $he is focu$ed

[–] Hazzia@infosec.pub 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think, especially after Jan 6, she's taking this as a powder keg situation because of how politicized she's become (against her will) and waiting to light the match until she's not putting her fans at risk by triggering some psychopath to bomb her concert

[–] TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social 18 points 2 months ago

She already cancelled one show on the tour because of a plotted terror attack. I think at this point she doesn't want to upset the wack jobs any more and put fans lives at risk.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I don't think it's ridiculous. Concerts have been targets for terrorism before, and these people are insane.

People were ridiculing Jack Black for cancelling Tenacious D tour dates after (pretty fucking mild) remarks by Kyle Gass as if it was a PR stunt, when in reality it was probably for the safety of the fans. They 1000% got (likely very specific) death threats and threats of attack at their shows. They cancelled the tour because maga are domestic terrorists.

Internet says it is set to conclude on December 8, 2024, in Vancouver. So, after the election.

[–] NegativeInf@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I'm assuming there's a pending lawsuit?

[–] barnaclebutt@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

It is not outlandish to suggest that being associated with Trump is damaging to her brand.

Radio silence from Taylor Swift. Kayla Says did a video on it https://youtu.be/FTLjxliMgM4

I understand that she is a role model for many, but who really gives a shit about a singer's political beliefs? I get that she has pull, but if you are asking your favorite singer who you should vote for, maybe you should re-evaluate your paradigms.

[–] Draegur@lemm.ee 13 points 2 months ago

you are not incorrect in your assertions, being that in a better world it wouldn't matter. But we live in a stage of history where ignorance and disenfranchisement are tools of manipulation to keep a population docile, its citizens isolated from one another and helpless.

Everyone needs to learn that politics is not actually optional: it will affect your life no matter where you go as long as there are other people - because even if oneself is not political, those other people ARE. Your boss, your landlord, your banker, your pharmacist, your doctor, your neighbors, your friends and family. Politics Knows Where You Live.

People have power, but all too often they have been duped into not realizing it and lulled into an ineffectual stupor. That cannot be permitted to go on. And if a pop starlet can wake people up and make them pay attention to what's being done to them instead of idly wasting their while on passive compliance to systems that are slowly (and sometimes not so slowly) killing them, then, well, fuck it I'll take any advantage I can get.
