No Stupid Questions

If we consider information to be safe if we encrypt it (e.g., text in a file, encrypted with modern strong encryption), would it be safer (as in harder to crack) if we then encrypted the encrypted file, and encrypted the encrypted^2 file, etc.? Is this what strong encryption already does behind the scenes?

I’m interested in helping friends tell the difference between fact and fiction, truth and hearsay and general stuff like that that gives peace of mind that they can defend themselves from gaslighting, makes life easier to live, and harder to be taken advantage of by propaganda. Just a few examples.

Here's my use case in more detail

I have a laptop and a PC, with the laptop connecting to one of my 2 monitors via an HDMI splitter. This allows me to use my PC on both screens most of the time, but then quickly switch one monitor to show the laptop, when required.

Only thing is that doing that causes all PC windows* on Screen 2 to jump to Screen 1, while Screen 2 now shows the laptop's windows. That's fine, and I get why it does that (effectively the PC thinks I've disconnected Screen 2).

* (usually it's a bunch of Chrome windows, 5-7 of them - for work/multi-client reasons this works best for me and my PC handles it fine)

When I switch the HDMI splitter back, all PC windows remain on Screen 1, while Screen 2 is once again showing my PC desktop, but with no windows. Ideally all windows would flip back to where they were before, but I don't think there's a way to do this, and again, that's fine.

My next preferred option is to be able to able to move all Chrome windows over from Screen 1 to Screen 2 quickly - and this is what I'm looking for advice on. I can't seem to find a way to "select" all/multiple Chrome windows and shift them to Screen 2, but it feels like there must be a way?

On the one hand I like GOG because it has no DRM and has better prices (in my country) than Steam and I have the feeling that on the one hand it follows more the open source philosophy than Steam itself, but Steam has helped enormously to play Windows games on Linux, so I haven't really made up my mind.

On the one hand I want to buy on Steam for the convenience, but on the other hand I prefer GOG because (in my country) is cheaper. Which platform do you prefer and why?

Long shot but I hope someone might know. The channel hosts parodies of superheroes and superhero tropes through the medium of motion comics and is characterized by its dry humor and sarcasm, reminiscent of the channel “How it Should Have Ended.” Videos often involved a competent woman parody of Superman acting alongside their equivalent of the justice league.

The channel, despite not broadly advertising this fact, hosts exclusively English translations of their main channel’s videos. (Original channel may be in Portuguese, Spanish, another language common in south America?) While the English translation channel might have stopped posting ~7 years ago, the main channel would have continued posting content for a year or more.

Really, I’m looking for a specific video wherein a spy (possibly a parody of black widow but I can’t recall) is looking to complete their mission while their operator ceaselessly suggests additional members for their team, lampshading the “spy by accident” genre with ever more absurd assertions and justifications for the spy to reject. Basically I'm trying to de-clutter the cables to my charging station, and was hoping to use a 3-way cable for my phone, watch, and headphones.

My main concern is if one device is able to successfully negotiate QuickCharge or PD, would that send 9-20 volts to the other devices?

e.g. if I grabbed the wrong cord and hooked it into my laptop, the laptop requests 20v, would that PD negotiation succeed and also send 20v to my 5v devices on the other two leads?

I've only used these kinds of cables with USB-A and chargers that can only output 5V. Most of my chargers now are QC/PD so I'm curious if I should avoid those or take any particular precautions.

I just got out of a 10+ year relationship a couple months ago, rather suddenly and not of my own volition. I do not fault my former partner, she did what she felt she had to do to be happy. Unfortunately, turns out, I didn't really have any friends of my own, I was just a hanger-on to her group. I have done a bad job of keeping in touch with anyone outside of this group, and I find myself very lonely nowadays.

Things have been tough for me for this and several other reasons the last couple years, and while I am incredibly thankful for my family taking me back in and supporting me while I get back on my feet, they can't be the only people I interact with. That said, how does one actually accomplish this? I'm pushing 40, I live in a rural area (30 minute drive to anything that isn't run and populated by out-and-out racists), and I'm broke as hell. I'm not particularly even interested in dating, just making some new friends and not being so lonely all the time. Where can you go and what can you do nowadays that doesn't cost a bunch of money and people are willing to talk to strangers? Internet or IRL, I suppose, but IRL is better because God I need to get out of the house more.

Or is the GOP too far gone to ever be civilized again? Not to leave out the name calling and bringing their kids into it too.

It grows into vines a few feet long, not very tangly, that run along the ground and don't seem to climb. It seems to grow in large numbers of smaller vines that don't seem to be connected in the roots.

Its completely blanketing my garden, choking out even other weeds, trying to expand into my lawn, and growing almost as fast as I weed it.

I'm wondering what it is, and/or if there are any particularly good ways of dealing with it. I've been tilling the ground, flipping over the soil (down to roughly a foot) and putting a layer of mulch over it, but Im still having stuff grow back.

My US residency is a mess.

I was in state A for a long time, where I voted last time. I had to renew my drivers license from state B, because I was temporarily there for a contract before going back to school when my license expired. So I have a license from state A with an address at state B. I intended to return to state A after grad school but life changes and that's no longer the plan.

I've been a student in Canada for years now with no ties to my original address or even the state B address from my license. My parents live in state C, but I don't have anything current tying me there, either. I haven't had a state C license or address since high school.

Where/how can I register to vote with everything currently tied to my canadian address?

Thanks for any advice... This has been bothering me and my last midterm ballot for state A was rejected because I think I was purged.
