this is hilarious!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Case study seems like the most fitting research design terminology.

I remember exactly where I was and how I found out Trump won the election. I don't have that memory for any other election. That's how traumatizing that monster is.

I knew about COVID way ahead of the general population because of WallStreetBets (WSB). Before becoming what it is now after the Game Stop thing, WSB was a little known gambling subreddit of degenerates that jokingly called themselves autists after that guy that made millions predicting the 2008 subprime lending collapse (Michael Burry).

Users on WSB were predicting a major disruption because of some new virus in China and were betting against the market. There was a day where the market just suddenly went into freefall. It had 2 circuit breakers (stop all trading for 15 mins to prevent a disastrous runaway collapse) in one day. While the entire world was going to hell because of a deadly outbreak and resulting collapse of the global economy, the users of WSB were cheering it on because they were making a few thousand bucks.

It was one of the most ridiculous experiences I had ever witnessed and been a part of. I am so happy to have been there for it.

I forgot about this guy since I left Reddit! Thank you, for reminding me of him, OP ๐Ÿ˜†

Anyone know if there is a Lemmy community of his content?

Would absolutely not be weird to Cubans.

I might be falling for bait here, but what's the rest of the line? Not a DAY goes by that what?

I don't get it. What does my mom's sexuality have to do with me? Also, why is sleeping with someone that's ~25 years older something to brag about?

Sorry if this is not the proper community for this question. Please let me know if I should post this question elsewhere.

So like, I'm not trying to be hyperbolic or jump on some conspiracy theory crap, but this seems like very troubling news to me. My entire life, I've been under the impression that no one is technically/officially above the law in the US, especially the president. I thought that was a hard consensus among Americans regardless of party. Now, SCOTUS just made the POTUS immune to criminal liability.

The president can personally violate any law without legal consequences. They also already have the ability to pardon anyone else for federal violations. The POTUS can literally threaten anyone now. They can assassinate anyone. They can order anyone to assassinate anyone, then pardon them. It may even grant complete immunity from state laws because if anyone tries to hold the POTUS accountable, then they can be assassinated too. This is some Putin-level dictator stuff.

I feel like this is unbelievable and acknowledge that I may be wayyy off. Am I misunderstanding something?? Do I need to calm down?

In other words, which POTUS elections did the (a) general American public at the time see as all candidates being poor options, and (b) do current historians and political scientists generally agree as them having poor candidates?

I did an oil change. Thought the car took 4.4 quarts but it only takes 3.7 quarts. I poured in slightly under 4 quarts. The engine is a 1.5 in-line turbo (Honda Civic Si). It's reading past the fill line slightly. How bad is it? Do I need to pour some out? What am I risking? What symptoms should I be looking for?

I play guitar and drums. I want to find friends to play with, but I'm not connected into any music circles. Currently, my social circle is only salsa and bachata dancers. Any ideas how I can find others?

ps - I'm pretty socially anxious and autistic, so making friends takes me extra effort and time.

What happens to the election if Biden dies before it?

  • With considerable time til the election
  • Not enough time to change the election

Assuming Biden wins on election day, what is the procedure at various stages throughout the election if Biden dies?

  • After election day but before votes are counted
  • Votes counted but not certified by Congress
  • Certified but not inaugurated
  • Any other stages I've missed

inb4 "Baby, don't hurt me."

But for real...what do people mean when they say "I love you," or "Do you love them?" I'm really confused by this because love seems to have such a varying definition. People say love for all sorts of things, and it seems like everyone else understands which definition they're using in the moment. Here are some examples in which each one has a different meaning:

  • I love pancakes.
  • I love my mother.
  • I love my romantic partner.
  • I love my best friend.
  • I love my career.
  • I love going to the beach.
  • My dog loves me.
  • That couple is in love.
  • Where is the love?

Background: I recently saw an episode of a show (spoiler below) where there was an adolescent heterosexual couple. The girl had a female best friend that she kissed, and is now confused about what she wants. She told her boyfriend about it. The boyfriend then asked her, "Do you love her?" What is he asking? If love means attachment and care, then clearly she does because that's her best friend. However, since that is so clear, he's not asking that. What is he asking??

Another specification is when people ask "Do you love them, or are you in love with them?"

I am confused by this term and the whole concept in general. I think I could really use some clarification, examples, or how to know which definition someone is going with when they use it.

Name of showThe show is Atypical on Netflix.

I live in Florida and am interested into meeting people that sail with the intent to be a hand on a sailboat for the experience and training. I know nothing about sailing nor do I know anyone that is into it. How can I get into the scene to meet people and feel things out?

I've tried the standard Minecraft one and several variations of it, but none work. The standard one below just doesn't give the cart enough time to unload. I tried placing 3 hoppers in a row and one in a closed track circuit, but those didn't work either.
