It really does seem like Florida has seen a significant influx of "southerners" since COVID. Hard to believe it was a purple state not long ago (Gillum within 0.5% of Ron). I feel for the tens of millions of reasonably intelligent, non-poisoned voting people there (similar to Texas).

What if we send them to someone else first, and let them drop The Democracy right on the civilian population? Damn, still not working. Must need smarter, more sophisticated bombs...

I used Power Delete Suite (javascript IIRC, via Firefox, year ago) to edit and delete, and mine are still gone. Not sure if it is still effective.

Reddit is probably less and less tolerant about edits and deletions, now that they're full speed on selling our data. Still see plenty of deleted posts when I'm searching for things, which is... nice I guess (bittersweet).

Great info for Texas, thank you. Early voting during that second week is my favorite. The first few days, there may be some small lines (depending on local population, etc). But that's usually a good sign. If Texans voted appropriately, could even demand (gasp) mail-in ballots. For now, just thankful they haven't taken early voting...

I've finally made one tiny step into the Linux pool: Replacing my little old Plex server & NAS (mini PC, Windows 10) with... an even tinier Raspberry Pi 5.

It's been nice to finally have an excuse to start learning Linux: commands, bash scripts, ssh, samba shares, etc. I've always admired lean, portable FOSS, so it's way overdue.

The "Sign in with Google" popups on virtually every site? It's nuts. I was just trying to figure this out today. Try these or these.

All this talk of DivX, but no mention of (the open source alternative) XviD? Maybe people confuse them. I think I had way more XviD videos at the time.

I'm kind of amazed that I haven't subscribed to Netflix in years now. They are always raising prices, and are too special to offer discounts (unlike competitors). Quality has generally gone downhill. They barely advertise, so I only hear of a few hits that escape the bubble. Most of their revenue seems to be from FOMO at this point, plus "eh, it's good enough". I'm happy to sail the high seas to obtain any highly-rated content they might accidentally produce.

"Geothermal energy is a DEI hire." - Texas GOP next week (if the owners of company do not "donate" appropriately).

"This is your brain on ~~drugs~~ tips."

But seriously: If a federal livable wage ($20+, adjusted regularly) killed tipping, what a relief that would be to most people. Tipping should return to being an unexpected surprise for truly exceptional service.

I guess I'm just saying: Have these people ever actually voted for Democrats? We know T**** caters to lunacy and cults, and they're welcome there. RFK will divide those, and perhaps hold off the idiocracy a bit longer.

Mostly, the former D's I hear about are people who were transformed by new wealth (Silicon Valley and libertarian types). Probably not enough of them in swing states.

Anyway, these are the things that help me sleep at night. Silver Bulletin and 538 will keep me sane, until they don't.
