The question doesn't make sense. They are projects with different purposes. and what kind of potential you are asking? popularity, ease of use, mass market, etc?

Mr/s. financial expert, how much is way down? How does the cost vs revenue compared? Is it a net positive or negative. I'll wait for you to put 2 and 2 together to see if I celebrate or not yet.
Can someone explain me [ X country] obsession with [ X celebration] and similar [location] rituals? Why do different cultures have their respective rituals? Why do some people prioritize certain values and act on them? Is having more reasons to celebrate life a bad or good thing?
That post is pure hysteria. First no one knows when Gabe is going to die, and even if he live very long he may step down due to old age still.
- also worrying so much about something that may happen 14 years later according to op is unnecessary and distorted thinking.
- why assume there is going to be a power vacuum? can't he and his leadership make pans of succession?
- then believing a whole made-up story going down the rabbit hole of the worst case scenario is again unnecessary and distorted thinking. Is okay to think of worst case scenarios but to take them as if they were real is gifting ourselves anxiety for free.
- in any case, the mental exercise of thinking of some undesirable possibilities allow us to take precautions and prepare to the extend that is appropriate and reachable. Which would be the most efficient behavior that thwarts "actual fear" as OP writes it.
More people playing on Linux may bring the interest of developers to create a Linux version for their games. More developers familiarizing or liking Linux may mean more native Linux versions. This way there is no need to use wine/proton middle-man software. Proton may work wonderful but there's still the fact that there is a middle-man software, and will never be as optimize it can be. Games often have bugs and are release unfinished, imagine bringing more things in between, more points of breaking.
Humanity’s future is gloom too.
Hasn't been the message for the last 2000 years?
The current era is better to raise children than many other eras where human rights didn't existed. Although it depends on which society too. Many of those worries are very subjective. Having or not having children ultimately is a personal choice* (except when is not e.g. Rape) and neither is wrong. Whichever you chose you will miss the benefits of the other. Both have pros and cons.
I don't see anything wrong with the GUI. In fact, I like it.
The most mature one I think is #Mastodon. Equivalent to Twitter. For Instagram alternative I love #Pixelfed. For facebook alternative I'll say #Minds is the most mature but the problem there is lack of moderation and is home for many conspiracy theorists. There are others that try to be an alternative to Facebook but IMO need more maturing. Those are Friendica and Diaspora.
I've never used it but it is my understanding that it pretty much the same thing with more functionality.
