It looks like some GRUB versions are fixed, e.g. possibly in Ubuntu from 22.10. Dunno if Fedora has the fixed version. I'm facing the same with my Mint/Windows dual boot; considering not booting windows till I'm ready to upgrade Mint to 22.

If you do get problems, it also looks like you can get around it by turning off secure boot until things are sorted.

If you're not an experienced Linux meddler I wouldn't recommend changing your bootloader from the default given by your distribution, but I guess if this is widespread most distros will upgrade their bootlodladers soon to deal with it.

I've definitely seen it when the colours are in focus/sharpness the same, e.g. with red words on my phone screen standing out in front of the rest.

Okay so what's going on here? This is the first time I've seen this illusion without my glasses, though it's stronger with.

I see the blue further back; the red sticks out forward to me. And I've seen that with colours on my screen and - I think - printed colours too sometimes.

Or is this something else, about the blue being a bit fuzzier or something? (In which case my own colour depth separation is something else.)

But over in the phone world:

Android phone :: two years old? We don't do updates any more. Buy a new phone.

Google/Samsung :: if you buy our expensive range, we can do five years of updates. Isn't that great!

iPhone SE 1st gen :: still going strong with updates after 8 years.

How would you use that for debugging?

(Sry I'm too cheap to go and buy the book)

That's not a phone, that's a picture of his late wife. He's still processing grief.

Ah really?! I can smell it from here!

Oh no, I had no idea of sarcasm! Is that a thing people do on the internet?! It was completely invisible to me in your comment, and mine certainly would never contain a shred of complimentary sarcasm.

Okay, just to clear things up. I don't think Trump is perfect, not at all, I was just playing with words in 'logical' sequence from your comment. Apologies for the confusion.

So, I updated Tumbleweed, and the updates to KDE caused my Plasma/Wayland session to restart, breaking the updates part way through. I wasn't watching at the time so took some while to debug!

Spent some time learning how to use nm-cli, because new half-upgraded KDE wouldn't load the network widget. It looks like something else may have changed and mucked up in the half-update (and of course I rebooted like a wise-man/dummy/i-dont-know-but-at-least-it-didnt-make-it-work) but iterations of trying things in nmcli eventually worked!

Finally tried zypper dup again and saw the session restart, so finished the job from the virtual terminal! At last, I seem to have a working computer again, and I might just brave updating my main laptop. (I cancelled the update while it was still downloading packages, after seeing the breakage on the other laptop!)

Hi I've been gradually finishing my first and only-main farm, and wanted to share :-) It started as the central plaza and fish ponds (since I came to love fishing!) and grew from there. I was going to get all-seasons screenshots and post together, but that's going soo slowly; and, hey, content!

Hope you like it! I think there's a little bit of just about everything there, and if you look closely you can see me sitting on a bench enjoying the flower garden. It's been single player until right at the end I added the 'guest lodges' to share with family and friends. I love how well they fit in places I hadn't planned!
