My point is if AI takes over all of the work there won't be any jobs for humans. So they won't have any money.

So who are all the AI companies going to sell their products to? The whole system doesn't work in an AI future and we don't need AI gods to be able to do our jobs, after all most humans are idiots.

Also AI doesn't need motivation.

There's a public access right of right by a property owned by one of the Trump's around me. I've made extra sure to register it just to irritate them.

Next time I walk past it I must remember to take a picture, because it is quite spectacularly tasteless.

I don't think something that happened in the 1800s is particularly applicable to the 21st century.

Right so what part of that would allow them to justify murder?

Yeah I did read the article. That's why I know what the article is about, and the fact that he's complaining about graphical fidelity in games and not getting the profit benefit. clearly AAA studios aren't actually having this issue because, like I said, the winner of the game awards this year was a cartoony game, so clearly they are well aware that graphics aren't everything.

I wish the NFU would decide what the hell their priorities are and then stick to them for 5 minutes. They seem to swing wildly from issue to issue, without ever really improving things for farmers.

I grew up on a farm and we had some tracks through our fields, it was a total non issue as long as people kept dogs on leads. One time we had a helicopter land in one of our fields and even that wasn't a problem, everything sprung back up after a while. Although immediately afterwards everything did kind of look like a mini nuke had gone off.

Maybe it'll be able to come up with coherent naming conventions for their products. That would be revolutionary

If they actually achieve AGI I don't understand what money would even mean anymore. It essentially is just a mechanism for getting people to do things they don't otherwise want to do, if the AI can do it just as well as the human, but for free other than the electricity costs, why the hell would you pay a human to do it?

It's like saving up money, in case of nuclear war. There are a few particular moments in history where the state of the world on the far side of the event is so different to the world on this side of the event that there's no point making any kind of plans based on today systems.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 11 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Right but that's not interesting to anyone but themselves. So why call it AGI then? Why not just say once the company has made over x amount of money they are split off to a separate company. Why lie and say you've developed something that you might not have developed.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 16 points 7 hours ago

So they don't actually have a definition of a AGI they just have a point at which they're going to announce it regardless of if it actually is AGI or not.

Great.

The game of the year was a cutesy cartoon game about a robot. I don't think there's a problem here.

Is there a way to actually read the article without having to be exposed to whatever the drug fueled hellscape that website is?

When you reveal a spoiler the black rectangles go away and it then renders the text in white, but on a white background (light coloured theme) The text renders is exactly the same colour as the background and so you can not see it unless you highlight the post, this renders the background of the post as light grey and there is just about enough contrast difference to now read the text.

When spoiler text is revealed it should render in the same colour as normal text. I'm not sure why it's white.

See images below for demonstration.

spoiler text is hidden

spoiler text has been revealed but is invisible

text post is highlighted and now you can see the spoiler text rendered in white
