Trump is doubling down upon how he wants his administration to be run. Not trying to build a coalition anymore. Therein lies the weakness, Trump’s base is going to be smaller than ever before.

Exactly, and for all the whining about Biden's age, Trump is only one Big Mac away from keeling over too. I doubt many Americans want President Vance.

There’s so much gold here. This is an incomprehensively bad pick for Trump team with regards to the Election, even if JD Vance and Trump are likely aligned to do horrible things together if they actually get the win.

I really don't get this pick. It's so bad. A religious conservative like Pence or a token black guy would have made far more sense. I suppose it shows that Trump cares about loyalty above all else.

Incomprehensibly bad pick. Marc Andreesen must be the only person in the country who likes that clown. There must be a lot of high-fives at Biden HQ right now.

Also, in true American MSM fashion, the article leaves out the best part, this quote of Vance's from 2016:

"I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical asshole like Nixon who wouldn't be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he's America's Hitler"

I guess this is a sign that I need to update my rig...

The US are really speedrunning the whole "become a global laughing stock", huh? How ironic that the cause of banana republics would itself become one.

Totally forgot about that one, great counterexample!

He was not elected head of state.

I don't think I've seen anyone else here with an 8:9 monitor, so I'll break the ice! The color theme is Layan Light; everything else is stock KDE.

I stumbled upon this community for the first time a few minutes ago. I like gardening and houseplants, but never heard of people recretionally growing mushrooms of the non-magical kind. Is it for food?

This was recorded in Cleveland for a radio broadcast; the tape became available as a bootleg and is known as one of the most important ones in the band's history.

It's the first-ever recording of "Fly by Night" and only their third performance with Neil. We can hear snippets of what would later become "By-Tor and the Snow Dog" in the Working Man solo.

A quote from Geddy regarding bootlegs:

A lot of people say 'It takes away from record sales' but [...] the fact is that any fan who buys a bootleg is still going to buy your record. So, who is it harming?

Good interview with Geddy about his autobiography: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHkvpWMTuUI

I've been using Linux on and off for about 15 years, but was never able to make the leap to using it full-time until PopOS. It's been painless to use and does everything I need with only minor tweaks. Thank you System76! I can't wait until the Cosmic DE is released.

(too bad about the name, though...)

Chris (Foo Fighters guitarist) did a great job here. Nice interview with some gear and history insights by Alex and a breakdown of the Limelight solo.

I prefer the tracks off the previous album – more atmospheric – but this is still pretty good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsN-v7pvUVA

One more step on the way to ridding ourselves of Higgs! Here's the letter they submitted:

Here's the letter they submitted

The turmoil within New Brunswick's Progressive Conservative Party was deepening Friday morning as another minister quit Premier Blaine Higgs's cabinet and four former top party officials demanded the premier resign.

Portland-Simonds MLA Trevor Holder, the longest-serving MLA in the legislature, announced in an open letter he was quitting as minister of post-secondary education, training and labour.

"Under the leadership of Premier Higgs, caucus has been less about consensus and more about him getting his own way," Holder wrote.

Oof, Holder is a very long-time MLA. This one's gotta hurt.

This warms my heart. Thank you to PC party leadership for finally standing against this hateful man. Better late than never.

I'll start: here's a song from fellow Canadian Lawrence Gowan, featuring Alex Lifeson on guitar. It sounds like it could have been on Presto. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WVSD-p86fM

And a conservative Christian group based in British Columbia says the debate is a test case for its efforts to roll back school LGBTQ policies across the country.

"Provinces across the country are paying attention to what's going on in New Brunswick because these decisions will affect the rest of the country," said Tanya Gaw, the founder of Action4Canada, which has been flooding New Brunswick MLAs with emails.

"I believe that this program needs to be eradicated from the school system nationwide," Gaw said in an interview.

Amazing, NB leading the way back into the middle ages! I hope these right-wing nutjobs get the definitive kick to the curb that they need in order to finally disappear into the mists of history.
