Very weird that birthdate is an arbitrary text field. No way to know what format to put it in, so Proton doesn't know how to parse it.

Which I'm really confused about. They have a LOT of paying users. They must be able to afford good devs. Where is all this money going? I want to see a breakdown of their expenses. That might not be outside the realm of reality now that they're a nonprofit.

AFAIK you can get around this by using raw pointers / unsafe blocks in Rust, then have a human target those to rewrite it in a safe, structured way.

I'm not understanding. With Matrix you get channels like "Rust" where you join and it's all about the Rust programming language. Or you can have a group chat with a few people in it.

I don't think they're saying she should be paid for her work in the Olympics. I think they're saying she is a very talented person who, even outside of this competition, cannot afford rent, which is sad.

The difference is this is actually shipping to manufacturers.

No, they're too busy focusing their resources on shitty cryptocurrency wallets.

Yuen yueng is super delicious. I haven't tried making it myself yet though.

There's a big difference between a protocol (what you refer to as Lemmy is actually a protocol called ActivityPub) and a centralized organization (Odyssee). Many / most Lemmy instances will ban Nazi posts, many also defederating from instances which allow them. However, the fact that it's a protocol means it's still free speech. This is IMO a very good system to have, and emulates real world free speech dynamics.

Odyssee, however, allowing Nazi stuff is not okay since they are not a protocol. They're the equivalent of a Lemmy instance. Lots of people are against Hexbear, for example, myself included.

What's interesting to me is that IMO Rust is fun because of legit, pragmatic benefits. E.g. I don't think debugging runtime errors is fun. Seeing all the compile time stuff Rust catches is fun for me. My employer doesn't care what's fun, but they do care about me shipping features instead of bugs, so we're kind of on the same page.
