Yep, I agree! Just saying I think that's what the original question was about. Seems like an interesting question to ask.

I think the point they're making is electric technology / batteries haven't been very good until recently, so we'd have a lot fewer cars out there if we didn't have fossils fuels in the first place since they can store more energy than batteries.

I've been using Trade for several years now. They're awesome.

Same here. I've tried two so far. The first one was gross. The second was... coffee. Not good, not bad.

I usually order from Trade and most of the time what I get is excellent.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding some nuance here but it sounds like you're saying exactly what the person you replied to said.

It is, but I'd barely consider it a launch of anything. It displays photos, but that's it. I could already upload and view photos on Proton Drive before they "launched" this.

I'm also doing this. Proton is amazing, for the most part. Ente Photos is also incredible for ditching Google Photos, although I'll probably switch to Proton Photos when that comes out since Ente is pricey.

I just watched the video because from reading OP's post I was also confused about this - it's 100% okay to criticize Hamas, but IMO the post didn't do a great job at explaining why it feels like it's actually targeting Palestinians as a whole.

They repeat several times throughout the video lyrics about Palestinian freedom. I think that's the biggest reason I agree it should be removed. If they'd kept it very specific to Hamas and only talked about all the horrific stuff they're doing, then that's one thing. But it seems like they're very focused on just general "Palestinian freedom" stuff, or at least they included it, which means that's what it's actually about.

Some people are so dense it's like they do it on purpose.

A pull request was made in April 2023 to implement Electron's safeStorage API to address this problem, but there has been no follow-up from Signal

I hate hearing shit like this. What are they thinking?

As everyone else like who? Gmail doesn't do client side E2E encryption at all.

Still, that seems like a combo of "comes with the territory of encrypted email" and "their software could use some major improvements". I think closed platform is closed by design.

AFAIK when you log in to Proton, you send them your password, they do the standard hashing and checking against the hash stored in their database, and if it matches them they let you log in by sending you a token of some sort.

If the your password is your encryption key, and if at some point Proton needs your plaintext password in order for you to log in, then doesn't that mean they still have a way to access your data? They could take the plaintext password and decrypt everything in your account without you knowing, right?
