Ehhh he is a horrendous abuser - not just to Lorena. Sounds like karma.

Our parties are more left leaning than US ones, yeah. So the left-most leaning party, the NDP is the Bernies and AOCs. Just slightly to the right of them but not by much are the centre-left (some could argue centre, for Canada) Liberals aka US Dems but these are still left of the US Dems. Then you have the Conservatives who used to be centre right but they’re really flirting with being firmly right which is STILL to the left of the US Repubs. So yeah, we’re pretty left.

Here’s a good breakdown someone wrote on the other site:

There's a Daily Show from back in the Stewart days when Harper's Conservatives won the federal election in Canada. The line went something like:

"Right wing parties are winning everywhere! In Canada, the Conservative Party, or as we'd know it here, the Gay Rainbow Alliance, has won their election."

If that gives you any idea.

The NDP are mostly in-line with the further left of the Dems, but realistically, the Liberals are only slightly more towards the centre than them. The Conservatives are historically right of centre, but still left of most of the American center. That was largely true before the Progressive Conservatives failed, merged with the Reform party, and became the Conservative Party of Canada.

That said, the Conservative parties have been moving further right in recent years. Some of this was because their supporters were generally finance, oil, large corporations, etc., so the policies they pushed forward were usually beneficial to them. But more recently they've been pursuing a lighter version of US-style populism. Mostly though, their platform for the past 3 leaders seems to be "aren't you sick of Trudeau yet?" because they don't have much substance in anything else they claim to support.

They need to pay some lip service to progressives for now to get elected.

AIPAC’s funding casts doubt on how progressive the Dems are allowed to be in the long term.

Yes thank you. It didn’t read as natural - that’s the word.

It’s disheartening that one can’t disagree on this topic without being eaten alive. I’m not saying elect Donald Trump and the couchfucker or anything ffs. Plus, I’m Canadian - so probably more left leaning than any US Dem - and as I’ve expressed, I really want the US to get their shit together.

I’ve done Toastmasters. I’m a writer for a living. I know how to give feedback on speeches. I also acknowledged that not every speech is received the same way by every viewer.

I’m not even saying she’s bad - I’m just saying she could be GREAT with more practice. I don’t understand why this is a shocking thing to say.

Nope, just saying what makes an impactful speech to me 🤷‍♀️

I’m allowed to disagree about the speech.

There’s nothing holding her back from being a great speaker like Obama. She needs more time and practice to develop her skills further to get to that next level. And maybe a better speechwriter.

I’m definitely a fan of hers, but felt that this could have been executed better. She did not have a lot of vocal variation and came out blazing fairly early on in the speech. Not going to rewatch it, but that was my perspective from last night. At one point I was like whoa Kimberly Guilfoyle, take it down a notch.

I do understand the need to be angry but it’s much more impactful when vocal variation, pitch, tone and volume are employed more effectively to build toward the anger.

I’m wondering if it might be a good thing. You don’t want to give Trump more ammo to say that he lost because he was hacked and it was rigged. He’s doing a fine job of losing on his very own without the help.

Oh no honey. (I’m assuming I didn’t catch the /s)

Obviously it’s not true.

But -

Why is it shameful to have been an escort?

I’d like the Rs to answer that instead, as well as:

  • Why is it shameful that people who have vaginas need tampons?
  • Why is it acceptable to denigrate women who haven’t physically had children - no matter what the reason for that is? (The reason is no one’s business)
  • Why is it acceptable to attack women who haven’t borne children and then deny IVF to the women who actually want to have them?
  • Why is it acceptable to let the women who are trying to have children die or risk disability or risk infertility if they have a miscarriage for lack of access to abortion care? (Abortion is the treatment for miscarriage)
  • Why do all of these chuds find it hilarious when they dress in the shittiest drag on the face of the planet, but want to ban talented artists from performing drag?

All of the answers seem to be that unless you fit the very narrow minded definition of what these people “deem” to be a “woman,” you should be shamed, abused and punished.

It seems to me that they don’t regard women or trans people as people with their own self determination, but instead as property or “less than” to be controlled and abused and punished as they see fit.

Oh they “let” R women have high profile jobs but they need to be either rich/powerful enough that they don’t dare try to denigrate them (see: Devos, Thomas) or completely compliant with whatever crazy direction the Heritage Society/Trump/Fundamentalist Christianity dictates.

Let’s not forget Jerry Falwell Jr. and his wife Becky. It’s ok for her to go bang a pool boy outside the confines of “godly marriage” but only because that’s what HE wanted and only because it was secret. All of the students at Liberty University could barely date or talk to the opposite sex.

I’m so tired of the hypocrisy. Neighbours, you gotta get your house in order. It bleeds up here to Canada and now we have to deal with our own psychopaths who have been taking notes.

Oh it’s only a matter of time until he does this in public.

I read my (dementia/alzheimers) mother’s journals and they were full of “she’s just so angry” and “I don’t understand why her room is so messy” and “She’s lazy and won’t help with the family business, but I would have been happy to as a teenager.”

I’m like damn mom you were never given language to actually understand me.

Even my sister to this day goes: “Well now that you know you have it you can just come up with strategies to overcome it.” 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I wish they would stop this:

ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders affecting children and young adults, with about 10% of young people between the ages of 3 and 17 diagnosed with the condition.

What about women and inattentives who are usually diagnosed way into adulthood???

This makes it sound curable, temporary or like it only impacts young people.

Just finished this. Took about a month. The pattern is free!

Since it’s unisex I used a Caron cotton cake in DK I think and knit the small size. I followed the guidance on the label for needle size. It started as an experiment and ended as a happy accident.

Also, I modified by adding the panel in the hood and icord string.

Hi - don't judge. This is my first mechanical keyboard and I'm playing around with something in budget that meets my needs as a beginner. I know it's not the best but I'm genuinely looking for help and knowledge here.

Yes, I know the allegations about the software/drivers for this keyboard being flagged as malware and have done research into this, though apparently not enough research. I downloaded what I thought was the driver for this keyboard but did not realize that it was a Via driver that broke the battery indicator and any possible connection to the (apparently terrible) software.

Would anyone have access to the original driver so I can roll the keyboard back to factory settings? The factory setting reset (function + esc 3 sec) doesn't roll back these changes. I tried to download one on Weiyun based on advice from the other site but everything is in Chinese and it does not seem to work.

Alternatively, does anyone know who I might contact to obtain this driver? I contacted the seller on AliExpress but they are spotty at best.

Many thanks in advance.

Now the heatwave needs to end so I can wear it.

I’m pretty close with this person outside of work and we used to have good non-work conversations but now I feel all I get is stories and photos of her children. We work in a tight knit team so I can’t really avoid them.

I got no less than 3 updates this weekend about a sports event with her kids including photos; more photos and another update about said event this morning; another photo of another child; updates about what her toddler was doing, and updates about how her kid made the track and field team and she absolutely needs to take time off work to go.

I don’t ask for this and I don’t really respond when she does it. I prefer to talk about other things. We used to talk about other things and now it’s kids 99% of the time to the point where it feels really one-sided. I tried to talk about a concert I went to this weekend and got really lukewarm reception.

I’m thinking I need to tone it down and say goodbye to the relationship/chit chat for a while? I feel if I tell her bluntly I’m tired of hearing about her children it will hurt her feelings. Any ideas?
