I agree that for action economy reasons it makes the most sense to allow Ready to bypass the more generic doesn't trigger reactions text. The open-endedness of Ready trigger I think would also support this. You don't need to specifically identify movement, stride, or any other keyword the way other reactions do.

But also mate which is hot, caffeinated, leaf juice, is a-ok and totally not tea.

The concept as I understand it is that Threads has the sheer volume of content to completely drown out the existing Fedi content if it fully opens the floodgates. If that occurs and say 90% of content becomes Threads and then they start making Threads only extensions to Activity Pub, servers will have to start patching those in and the Activity Pub project is defacto owned by Meta.

People also have issues with the Meta content moderation and the population on Threads, but as you noted that's fixable on an individual and community level. The existential threat to the future of the Fediverse is why servers should defederate. Meta can't and shouldn't be trusted with any amount of power over this community project.

I tried for a while fighting in my local facebook groups, but it just served to make me mad and didn't put a dent in the constant barrage of nonsense. I started blocking them all and finally just stopped using facebook entirely.

It's sad since those are really the only online groups for my town. I just have no interest in engaging in the local community now.

Re-manifested? To fix it you have to reenable manifest v2. That should be simple for a while but will get more problematic over time.

"Should not be" in an abstract sense, sure. In cold reality, I don't see what other strategy someone has to actually retire. Safer investments don't have anywhere near the same returns.

Yeah, I think long game Intel isn't going anywhere. AMD lived in second place for years until they cracked it with ryzen. Things will shift back around at some point.

If a construction worker started cutting beams and caused the building to collapse that wouldn't be "not doing their job", that would be active and malicious sabotage. This isn't even remotely an apology, it makes it sound like they just ignored a call for help, not actively created a situation that no one asked for.
