The minimum wage for service staff in the US is bonkers, and a great example of 'if they could pay you less, they would'. I don't know how often employers actually pay above 2.13 when they don't have to, but I've read a lot more about being paid 2.13 plus tips than above that.

If something was too acidic I'd probably add a sprinkle of MSG, or Parmesan if you don't have that.

I add sugar when I make pasta sauces all the time, also to stews and stir fries. It's a nice dimension.

Rejoining the EU isn't a priority for me right now, but in 10 years time, who knows. Ruling out all other types of relationship is stupid. I voted for labour because I wanted to see the Tories out, but if this is really their goal then they might not get my vote in the next election.
