Italian here, just to add my two cents, it also depends on the city. I live in a non-major city, all i have seen is:

  • McDonalds

  • maybe two Burger Kings

  • and, very recently, exactly one KFC. In a far-ass place i can't reach by bus(i don't have a driving license yet).
