He should also back them into a corner so they wont be easily distracted and can focus on his words.

What country are you from?

He did all of this during the last day of a conference.

So rather than inspiring the WordPress community to push forward and do good things, he spent an hour just antagonizing and shaming companies that literally sponsored the conference.

This is like when Elon Musk cursed out advertisers on Twitter.

Convenience.

Imagine buying a iPhone and not having access to the App Store.

Sure there are ways around it. But the average iPhone user would have a melt down.

If this was just a battle about a big company going after open-source branding, it's pretty easy to see the sides. But this is a guy who ripped into a competitor (which btw, has sponsored MANY WordPress conferences and provided tooling/fund for things outside of WordPress core) and fractured the community significantly.

Honestly I don't GAF about WPengine. But Matt makes money off of WordPress too. And his actions led to 1/10 of his company quitting.

I'm pissed that as a open-source developer, Matt has pulled the non-profit open-source project into this mess, when he owns a FOR-PROFIT company that would benefit from WPEngine failing.

Matt needs to step down. WordPress as a open-source project needs to be in the hands of people who want to drive the mission forward in a non-sleazy way.

Matt has muddled the waters on open-source.

He owns a for-profit company, and has a lot of power on the non-profit open-source version. And he's making decisions that affect both.

Open-source contributors who only want to help the nonprofit are now being forced to opting in/agreeing to be part of the lawsuit. Everything in the WP slack where volunteers participate is now part of legal evidence.

All of this only benefits Matt.

1/10th of his company resigned. Volunteers are pulled in and having to decide if contributing to open-source is worth all of this.

The comparison with Android and Google, I'd argue it's worse on android.

You can absolutely host your own open-source WordPress, and get plugins and core features using a mirrored server. It's a bit harder, but if you're anti-Matt, then you're technically competent already to do this. And the experience is pretty straightforward.

For Android development, many features that are really nice-to-haves require Google services. Yes, there are workarounds. But it's reinventing the wheel, creating your own systems, and can be a inconsistent experience for users.

Btw, I'm on the "Fuck Matt" train, because as a open-source contributors, he's making devs lives harder with his meltdown. But I also giving double middle fingers to WP Engine.

Halo 4 was wack.

Halo 5 hasn't been released on PC yet.

Halo infinite was pretty good, but forgettable.

Replaying the remastered Halo trilogy, yeah... They'll never recapture that magic.

Apparently if it's not cross promoting on Mountain Dew or something, people think it's dead.

This is going to sound weird but I volunteered as a parent on a school field trip. And all the preteens (boys and girls) were talking about CoD.

My tinfoil hat assumption is that they're continuing to buy their way into social relevance.

A CEOs salary is often just a small part of the compensation.

During some tech bubble bursts, many CEOs parade around saying they'll only pay themselves a "dollar" for salary. What they aren't telling you is their millions of stock options they'll earn.

I don't know if they just like abusing children, or bdsm.

Google Mandiant security analysts warn of a worrying new trend of threat actors demonstrating a better capability to discover and exploit zero-day vulnerabilities in software.

Specifically, of the 138 vulnerabilities disclosed as actively exploited in 2023, Mandiant says 97 (70.3%) were leveraged as zero-days.

This means that threat actors exploited the flaws in attacks before the impacted vendors knew of the bugs existence or had been able to patch them.

Medlock also ordered Noel, 53, to pay $270,000 in fines and more than $3 million in restitution to the agencies affected by his actions, telling the former sheriff he had “tarnished the badge and failed everyone in law enforcement.”

Prosecutors accused Noel and his family of spending millions of dollars for personal purchases that included travel, gifts, clothing and vehicles, the News and Tribune reported. Medlock said in June that Noel had used the firefighter association’s funds as a “personal piggy bank.”

The Indiana State Police conducted dozens of searches that uncovered questionable payments for classic cars, college tuition and an aircraft.

The video posted by Cavender claims that deputies were dispatched to "speed" through Cobb County to respond to Sheriff Owens' issue at a nearby Burger King. The video appears to depict the deputies running red lights and using their sirens.

When deputies arrived at the fast food restaurant, the sheriff leaned out of the driver's side window and spoke to a recording deputy.

"Hey, do me a favor," Sheriff Owens said. "I need to get- all I need is the owner's name of whoever owns this damn facility, or the manager."

The sheriff explained how he was given an incorrect order by a Burger King employee, asked for it to be replaced, and was denied.

Abravnel's pictures show two bearded men wearing sunglasses and three other men wearing face coverings on board the boat. One of the men on board appeared to be holding an image of Mike Lindell, CEO of the My Pillow company. Lindell, who is a well-known Trump supporter, recently hit back against claims that his product pricing was inadvertently linked to neo-Nazi propaganda.
