An Apple spokeswoman blamed the issue on phonetic overlap between the two words, and said the company was working on a fix.

🤔

This is such a funny lie, they aren't even the same number of syllables

she clearly has no idea how AI works

Nor phonetics

This is the fun side of Apple. Since they're a monoculture, they can't just blame a partner or vendor like every other tech company. Watching them squirm is delightful. So arrogant and closed-source.

They should just flex and own this one

Interesting how you managed to spin their accountability as a bad thing. It sounds like you prefer companies that refuse to squirm.

The company said it is working to fix the issue...

What issue? It sounds like it works perfectly fine.

Instead, he said, there was probably software code somewhere on Apple’s systems that caused iPhones to write the word “Trump” when someone said “racist.”

“This smells like a serious prank,” Mr. Burkey said. “The only question is: Did someone slip this into the data or slip into the code?”

yeah, I wouldn't read too much into it guys

Get Tim Apple on the phone.

[–] cybervseas@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

Apple will comply and instead transcribe "winner" to "Trump" in order to curry favor with him. Just like they kowtow on the Gulf of Shame.

[–] eporetsky@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago

Not sure if this is relevant but would be interesting to see what words have high cosine similarity with "Trump" in different pre-trained LLMs
