All we can hope for is a repeat of last time but only in one aspect. It kills more Republicans than science and health believers.

just in time for the diaper-in-chief to be crowned again.

Yay! Like my fourth once in a lifetime event is coming up!

But hey, you can totally knock that down a couple by not buying a house and not having kids

The 1918 “SpanishFlu” (though it’s believed to have crossed over in Kansas) was bird flu, if you want a preview of what could be coming.

If you want to get scared, read what Michael Lewis has to say about the quality of public health in the US, as exposed by how poorly it reacted at a rank-and-file level to Covid-19.

You can't lose control of something you never tried to control

It doesn’t exist if you don’t test for it.

My go-to reaction these days:

too many once-in-a-lifetime crises

California already declared state of emergency

Has anyone else noticed there are not eggs in the stores? I’m willing to bet this is because of bird flu. If you still have them, it’s not because you’re safe, it’s because your local authorities are not looking for it.

There's eggs in my stores in California. For $8 PER FUCKING DOZEN.

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 12 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I just paid $6. It's ridiculous. Good thing we elected trump. I'm sure bringing down the cost of eggs is priority #1 for him. I mean the guy said it in his campaign. He certainly doesn't seem like the type to lie.

[–] KingJalopy@lemm.ee 4 points 3 days ago

How could you not believe a guy like that? He's a down to earth people person just like us and telling it like it is! He's out there grabbing life by the...horns, I think he said? And he's obviously very bigly smart by surrounding himself with people like the richest guy on the planet. You can't get that rich if you're an idiot, otherwise we'd all be loaded! Can't wait for those $10 dollar eggs. I'll bet they even taste better, if only because I can only afford to eat them as often as steak.

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Damn, I still have like 6 eggs left. I should hit the resale market before they go off. Let's say 6 for 6.

[–] andrewta@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

We are up to $4 a dozen thought ours were expensive

[–] misterdoctor@lemmy.world -2 points 3 days ago (2 children)

in California

I’ve identified your first mistake

(jk hehe)

[–] KingJalopy@lemm.ee 3 points 3 days ago

You're not wrong exactly lol. Love living here though.

[–] Xanthobilly@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It’s a quality of life tax. They basically pay for outdoor air conditioning.

[–] zbyte64@awful.systems 2 points 1 day ago

And a functioning state government. California actually has some decent unemployment insurance, which was nice when I was laid off earlier this year. Got a job now that's even better, so there's that as well.

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

For once in my life I actual purchased something before it shot up in price. Got two cartons for $2 each a couple weeks ago.
