This all reminded me of the before times when I worked retail. I'd seen this guy who creeped me TF out for years over the course of a few jobs in the same town. His gf was very clearly in highschool and he was probably 30 the 1st time I encountered him. He was a regular at this smoothie shop I worked at, and I tried to avoid dealing with him at all costs. A few years later he's in the grocery store I work at all the time with the same gf (hey, at least she was definitely 18 by this point).
One day they propositioned one of the cashiers for a threesome. She freaked out and got the guy 86'd from the store. Eventually they compromised to let him back in as long as he didn't approach any female employees for anything.
Fast forward a few years and I was working a desk job and working on trying to get a promotion to manager. I screwed up one day and overslept and was late. That fuck up took me out of the running and my boss said he was going to look for external hires. Who comes in for an interview but that fucking guy. I pulled my manager aside and told him all the history he had at the grocery store, the underage gf, everything. He thought I was making up an elaborate story because I was mad I wasn't getting promoted, and went ahead with the hire.
6 months later (after I had quit) he got canned for sexual harassment for trying to kiss the lady working on night shift. (Shocker) Life can be fucking weird sometimes.

Eh I'm remote so going to people's desk isn't an option. IM is the closest thing I've got. Imo since Covid, calling someone without IMing 1st to ask if they're free for a call isn't really kosher at least in our office.
Here's the thing. If it's from someone internal, we have instant messaging if say u want some kind of message instantly. If I get an email, I'm assuming I have time to action it. If I'm not busy, sure, I'll action it right away, but if I am and I see an email come in from someone internal not marked high importance, there's a good chance I'm not even reading it for like 2-3 hours maybe more. I absolutely hate when someone sends an email and a follow up like an hour later. If it's urgent, u need to convey that in some way, shape, or form.
I set up Amazon Echo buds recently. I have no desire to use any of the Alexa crap on them and just wanted cheap, decent noise cancelling Bluetooth earbuds on prime day. You apparently can't set them up without the Alexa app and like all the permissions. I downloaded it on an old phone that's practically blank, set up the buds, and deleted the app. Once it's set up you can use like regular Bluetooth earbuds. They wanted location all the time and a few others (microphone maybe?). Selecting only allow this time wouldn't even work. I get it Bezos, u want my data, but fuck off u aren't getting it.
There's still a handful of red states with it on the books as well. Yes, it's everyone you think it is.
