Pliny is the one that’s supposed to travel, and then send you letters which range from “I saw a mountain just explode, yo” to “did you know aqueducts are like freakishly expensive” depending on whether he’s the older or the younger one.

Also, I think the younger advocated for rubbing feces into wounds to help them heal. I’m not sure I’d trust Pliny’s knowledge on many subjects.

He’s the homebody of the two. Taco Bob, on the other hand, loves to travel. The downside is that sometimes he doesn’t come back for weeks, so they’re both homebodies now.

Taco bob is very handsome and I imagine very aware of it.

[–] iamanurd@midwest.social 2 points 4 days ago

Oh he sure does!

The perspective on this one keeps throwing me off. That cat feels like a tiger in this photo.

Ngl the juxtaposition between “Pliny” and “Taco Bob” has me in stitches.

You are a pro cat namer.

Haha, thanks internet friend!

Peppered with tons of bad medical advice.

every once in awhile you should pull the bags out, pack them, and then just unpack them and put everything away so they don't get anxious every time

like sometimes I just pull out my cat carriers, and throw treats in the back of them. once they've eaten all the treats, the carriers go away

[–] iamanurd@midwest.social 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

That’s a fantastic idea! Taco goes ballistic when it’s vet time and the carriers come out. Vet says he’s not allowed to come in unmedicated anymore.

it's how I crate trained my dog. I adopted him when he was two and he was terrified of the crate. I would put him in the same room as the crate, put high value food in it, shredded cheese, deli meats, and then leave the room. slowly I would feed him more and more normal things as I got closer and closer while he was in the crate. pretty quickly I was feeding him all of his meals in there, but he would always watch till I left the room before going in.

anytime he earned a treat, for sitting, or laying down or whatever, he had to go into the crate to get the treat. at the beginning I would have to toss it into the back of the crate and then leave the room for him to go get it, eventually he was running into the crate waiting for the treat.

within about 2 months he was sleeping in the crate with the door open

"Hoooman, I'm not gonna help you with that 23 kg limit"

[–] iamanurd@midwest.social 5 points 4 days ago

Saske looks like a good cat.

"Why do you need to go on so many adventures, when I am the adventure?"

[–] proudblond@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I used to have a job that involved a lot of in-state travel, often allowing me to come home on the weekends. One weekend I left the clothes I hadn’t worn in the suitcase. When I went to pack for the next week, I discovered that my cat had peed in it. She really knew how to express her displeasure!

My late cat, www.kitty.com, did that to me. She was a terror, but I loved her.

Edit: probably best not to click that url. I have no idea where it goes, but 50/50 chance it’s nsfw if I had to wager.

Some of you are gold medalist cat namers

[–] PapaStevesy@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Not NSFW, domain's for sale!

[–] iamanurd@midwest.social 3 points 4 days ago

Thank you for your sacrifice! Didn’t want to click that one on the plane around a bunch of strangers. 😂

[–] EleventhHour@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Time to get a Pliny the Younger to keep him company!

[–] iamanurd@midwest.social 6 points 4 days ago

Taco Bob is there hanging with him.

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

I had a cat who would sit on my pants. I guess she figured if I couldn't get dressed, I couldn't leave the house!

Shows what SHE knows! :)
